Will Trey skip mandatory practices next week? - Luvnit2 - 06-06-2025 Trey will face major fines if he chooses to miss any mandatory activities. If he misses all 3 days, over $100K. Trey is at an impasses as he is inder contract, show up to MANDATORY TEAM ACTIVITIESS or face major fines like they 2 guys below are facing. It is not a huge deal for someone making 15.8 million, but if it continues, not only the fines, but he will miss weekly salary starting week one if he does not report. One game check is close to 1 million alone. https://www.newsweek.com/sports/nfl/two-nfl-stars-will-face-over-100000-fines-missing-mandatory-minicamp-1908693 According to Adam Schefter, Aiyuk and Lamb skipping mandatory minicamp will dramatically affect their fine amounts per the three days the camp takes place. Day one will see them fined $16,953, day two will increase to $33,908, and day three will increase again to $50,855. This will bring the grand total of fines for missing minicamp to a staggering $101,716 for both players. According to a report from Yahoo Finance's George Malone from 2020, Seahawks CB Cam Chancellor was fined over one million for skipping 37 days from minicamp. Per Malone, "The bulk of Chancellor's fine amount came in 2015 when he was docked $1,110,000 for missing 37 days of training camp." Chris Jones was fine 2,25 million in 2023 for not showing up in his contract dispute. https://overthecap.com/collective-bargaining-agreement/article/42 Unexcused late reporting for or absence from preseason training camp by a player under contract except those signed as (1) an Unrestricted Free Agent pursuant to Article 9; or (2) a Drafted or Undrafted Rookie pursuant to Article 7—mandatory fine of $50,000 per day. For the avoidance of doubt, any such fines shall be mandatory, and shall not be reduced in amount or waived by the Club, in whole or in part, but must be paid by the player or deducted by the Club as provided in Section 5(b) of this Article. For purposes of this Subsection (vi) and Subsections (vii)-(ix) below, preseason training camp shall be defined as the period beginning with the mandatory reporting date for any player through the Sunday immediately preceding the first game of the NFL regular season. RE: Will Trey skip mandatory practices next week? - bfine32 - 06-06-2025 I could see him reporting, but an "injury" will keep him off the field. RE: Will Trey skip mandatory practices next week? - Isaac Curtis: The Real #85 - 06-06-2025 Yes, he will. At best, it will be a Chase style hold in. Like Stewart is doing. He's there, just not practicing. RE: Will Trey skip mandatory practices next week? - Luvnit2 - 06-06-2025 (Yesterday, 08:25 PM)Isaac Curtis: The Real #85 Wrote: Yes, he will. He may, but it will hard to go down this path and still say he will sit out the year. I am not sure other teams would view that type of behavior favorably either if he is obviously not injured, but lies about it. He's not actually a Bengals/NFL employee right now. May not be a good look for Trey but it's not a good look for the Bengals either. RE: Will Trey skip mandatory practices next week? - Bengal80 - 06-07-2025 Just a FYI. Per Spotrac, his 2025 salary is $21M. $5.2 has been paid with 15.8M to be paid this year. True, but the bonus will not be calculated for game checks each week if he holds out, justthe 15.8 million base. Any fines are removed from hi 2015 cao hit. Its obvious the bengals and other teams dont value trey as some on this board do...he has 5-6 good games where he gets all his sacks and then disappears and spends most of the time wrestling with the opposing teams left tackle RE: Will Trey skip mandatory practices next week? - Luvnit2 - 06-07-2025 (4 hours ago)ERIC1 Wrote: Its obvious the bengals and other teams dont value trey as some on this board do...he has 5-6 good games where he gets all his sacks and then disappears and spends most of the time wrestling with the opposing teams left tackle I won't speak for others, but I value Trey and see no need to attack his production. I just think Trey is being unreasonable in his request for the t eam to ignore his final year of his contract. I think it is unreasonable for our fans to ignore he is underc contract as well. I think fans say if we lose Trey, we will lose 17.5 sacks a year. That is the worst case scenario though. In reality whether it is Ossai, Murphy, Stewart or Sample, someone takes his snaps. If they get 8 sacks, we lost 9.5 sacks. That is a lot, but can we get productio from other positions like DT or LDE to compensate for Trey;s absence? It is a gamble no doubt and I hope they work it out. But, I think Trey is the issue and not the FO at this point in time. They made an offer, it appears their final offer and Trey said no ending negotiations. Like others have said, the FO has nothing more to say so why would they call Trey or his agent. At this point Trey will either report and honor the existing contract or not. Tj watt and Garrett had 9 games they didn't record any sack data. Max Crosby had 6 games he didn't and only played in 12 games. No other team wanted to meet the Bengals trade compensation so that's not really saying they don't value Trey. Reports said teams were willing to pay his contract demands not the trade compensation. Now I know we don't want to trust those reports but we want to trust the dollar amount reports. I haven't seen people complaining about cutting certain players or asking them to take a paycut when they signed a contract. Why is this? Because said players weren't producing so it makes sense. That's no different than having a player ask for a raise and seeing his production and what is the league set value. If hes inside of that value with his request than it makes sense and it's not unreasonable to side with the player. Because it's best for the player and the team. We act like it's this good thing when the bengals force players to play under value. It's a bad look around the league and we are gonna make it harder to get good free agents and with out that we aren't making any superbowl runs. I remember people doing the same mental gymnastics regarding Geno Atkins back in the day. Take away all of their sacks and they didn't really get any sacks. Sound logic. I was very specific and said unreasonable to ignore his current contract. The team should use the 2025 portion of his contract as a starting point to negotiate, some think they should just ignore it and I think that is unreasonable. Just my opinion RE: Will Trey skip mandatory practices next week? - NUGDUKWE - 06-07-2025 (3 hours ago)Luvnit2 Wrote: I didd not say that. Just my opinion Well they should use the 2025 contract as part of it. In the way that you can give him his large long contract that he wants. But use 2025 to make it team friendly and ease some of the financial risk.
