Rank our Coaches (2025) - bfine32 - 06-23-2025 With all the position groups ranked, we’ll close out by ranking our Coaching Staff. Where we got Zac/Dan/Al.? RE: Rank our Coaches (2025) - Synric - 06-24-2025 I made it to 16 without counting new head coaches. Bengals have a first time NFL DC and a mediocre offensive scheme. So a minimum of 16 returning staffs better than ours? If a medicre Offensive Scheme gets you top 5 in total point Ima take it. RE: Rank our Coaches (2025) - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 06-24-2025 Laughed at the Omar Epps reference myself lol Too early to tell on our new OL coach and Defensive coaches. I think Zac is a great coach at times and a terrible coach at times so I guess I would put him mid-tier. RE: Rank our Coaches (2025) - Millhouse - 06-24-2025 Highest I can go on the pole is midway up. RE: Rank our Coaches (2025) - ochocincos - 06-25-2025 Without seeing Golden actually run a defense in the NFL, I had to go 15-21. Running a college defense and NFL defense are obviously going to be different. And Golden took over an already-good college defense and made it just a bit better. Prior to Golden coming in, ND finished their season with 19.7 Points Allowed Per Game, which ranked T14 in FBS. ND defense rankings 2022-2024 were: 2022 - 23.0 PAPG (39th) 2023 - 15.9 (T7th with my Miami Redhawks ![]() 2024 - 15.5 (T4th) So yes, he did help improve the defense, but how effective will he be taking over a poor defense and making them actually good as opposed to taking what's already good and making them a bit better? I'm not saying he can't, but we haven't seen him as a DC in the NFL yet, so there's some uncertainty, and I tend to be more skeptical with the unknown than optimistic. If Golden really can turn this defense though into at least middle of the pack and the offense can perform like last year, this can be a Top 10 team. RE: Rank our Coaches (2025) - Luvnit2 - 06-25-2025 I think our experienced head coach who also wear multiple hats in top 6 to 8 in the NFL. I know that many will strongly disagree. He is experienced, players love him and the big moments are not to big for him based on his playoff record. I think the HC being the base foundation being strong supports the rest of the staff. The new coaches are an unknown, but I do like Golden and feel he will surprise. Our OL coach is an unknown to me. I think Simmons is a top 5 special teams coach. Overall, I think they are around 10th best in the league on paper. RE: Rank our Coaches (2025) - Soonerpeace - 06-25-2025 Ahead of our staff in no order… Sean Payton Nic Siriano Andy Reid Sean McVay Mike Tomlin Pete Carroll John Harbaugh Jim Harbaugh Kyle Shanahan RE: Rank our Coaches (2025) - bfine32 - 06-25-2025 (06-25-2025, 10:43 AM)Soonerpeace Wrote: Ahead of our staff in no order… I could nitpick one of 2 who have never won anything or not done so in this decade; but a fair list. I will say the AFC North is the division of great teams, but the AFC West is the division of Great Coaches RE: Rank our Coaches (2025) - bengalfan74 - 06-25-2025 Right now I can't put them in the top tier. We'll see how this season moves them? He still has some in-game issues with play calling and needs to tweak the preseason games issue, but he's not credited enough with the culture he's built and how the players love to play for him. Playoff games def didn't look too big for him either. Then late in the season and in the Playoffs his coaching and his team as a whole is very good. Agree that Payton and Tomlin are highly overrated and Zac could pass them up if the Bengals make the Playoffs this year and go on a roll again. In the end, how you do in the Playoffs matters a ton as we all saw with Marv back in the day. Zac's teams are tough that time of year. I think Taylor has a great year and reestablishes himself as a top coach. But missing the playoffs the last 2 years are clouding him. |
