Who knows what they really do with Zac calling plays but is Pitcher a better OC than Cali?

I don’t believe we have ever made an official declaration on the board?

Cast your vote.

My vote right now is no.
Pitcher will hopefully end up being better but the Bengals had a lot of success with Callahan as OC (SB/AFCC games). How much he had to do with that, I don’t know but it still was under his watch as OC.

Haven't seen enough was my vote. We will see this year, Joe and the passing Offense was pretty fantastic last season but the running
offense was the second worst. Have to be better than that running the ball.

RE: Too close to call? - jj22 - 07-31-2025

Do we look at what he was able to do /did with the Temessee Offense?

RE: Too close to call? - Sled21 - 08-01-2025

Yet to be determined....

RE: Too close to call? - Synric - 08-01-2025

The biggest difference between the two is Tyler Boyd. Brian "Not Bill" Callahan had a pure slot receiver so it limited Chase's reps in that role. Pitcher was able to move Chase into the slot and add ALOT more pre-snap motion which is what caused the explosion in Ja'Marr Chase's numbers.

Too early. But this offense if healthy could be the best passing centric offense in the league. They have all the ingredients. The only possible limitation is the OL. If it fails them they should have gone for help there not get Fant.

RE: Too close to call? - WeezyBengal - 08-01-2025

Yes he is.

Offense was the best its ever been last year under Burrow.

They FINALLY used more 12 personel. They used Chase in ways we've been dreaming of. They are starting to use more pistol formations.

This year, offensively, is going to be insane IMO. I think we have a REALLY good one in Pitcher.

They finally had the personnel to do it.

If it were that important to Callahan they would have aquired the personnel.

I don't think it's a simple case as one or the other. They had personnel and coaching changes. Justin Rascati was brought in to help develop a 12 personnel pacakge if I remember correctly.

And as soon as defenses start playing back to cover Chase, Higgins, Yoshi, Mike G and now Fant, Chase Brown will make them pay. This offense should be a blast to watch this year.

I’m hoping that Joe trusts everyone because thst will make a huge difference. Not sure that’s always the case. Burrow is given enormous freedom and little scrutiny for good reason but there’s a give and take there. I’m excited hope Mims is ok

This is why I said 'Yes.' I get the people who don't want to make that claim after 1 year, but, to me, it's a definite upgrade in Pitcher.

Well according to him, he said he's always going to look for 1 and 5, but Yoshi and Mike G. have his trust. He said 50/50 balls used to not be Yoshi's strength, but he's worked on that and now they are. The person who I believe has to earn his trust is Burton. And after last year, he has to feel better about just giving the ball to Chase Brown

RE: Too close to call? - Brownshoe - 08-01-2025

Haven't seen enough, but I'm leaning Pitcher being better due to the fact the offense played much better than the previous years. To the people saying SB/AFFCG all I have to say is... compare the defenses of those teams

RE: Too close to call? - jason - 08-01-2025

I dunno, but I'd wager Pitcher keeps his current gig longer than Callahan.

He needs to develop his other options. He’s getting there. Of course the room is better. But it’s really open. The other receivers. I think it could really take this offense to a higher level. But I’m excited on Chase Brown too.

RE: Too close to call? - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 08-01-2025

If the additions of Peters, Patrick, Fairchild, Perine and Tahj Brooks help the run game this could be the best Offense in the league under
Zac and Pitcher with all the weapons. But last year, we were 31st in rushing, just too early to call like I said. If Burrow and the Offense is
healthy they will be about the best passing Offense.

Because he is a worse OC or because Cali's lack of success at Tennessee hurting Zac's "coaching tree" reputation?
