70 yard field goal - pally - 08-09-2025 Panthers kicker Cam Little hit a 70 yard FG against the Steelers. It looked like it would have been good from 75. Pre season accomplishments do not count in official records Okay it was actually the Jags kicker… Oh well. …Panthers vs Jags …they both are bad cat team RE: 70 yard fold goal - SunsetBengal - 08-09-2025 (08-09-2025, 09:44 PM)pally Wrote: Panthers kicker Cam Little hit a 70 yard FG against the Steelers. RE: 70 yard field goal - TheLeonardLeap - 08-10-2025 They're probably going to move FG poles from the back of the endzone to another 5 yards back to the seating wall soon. Or how about this, instead of increasing distance requirements increase the precision demand. A group of field goals. One normal width in the middle good for 1 point for an extra point so no change there. But also only worth 1 point on a field goal attempt. Then two more narrow ones on each side worth 3 points for a field goal made. ![]() Heck make it even more fun and change the field goals to some kind of different sized baskets they have to land the ball in for various points. Since baskets would take up more space they could roll them onto the field during tries and even advertise on them like the Salvation Army bucket. ![]() RE: 70 yard field goal - BFritz21 - 08-10-2025 No one can post a video of this? Seems like it's kind of a big deal! That's pretty UNREAL! Imagine how much that changes their situational play calling before halftime or before the end of games! RE: 70 yard field goal - Essex Johnson - 08-10-2025 impressive with room to spare RE: 70 yard field goal - HarleyDog - 08-10-2025 (Yesterday, 01:49 PM)TheLeonardLeap Wrote: They're probably going to move FG poles from the back of the endzone to another 5 yards back to the seating wall soon. I hope not. This was a freak thing, and they were testing his leg. He can't do that on a consistent basis. If he can? Then Kuddo's to the team, scouts, etc., that trusted in this kid and did their research. (Yesterday, 03:22 PM)BFritz21 Wrote: No one can post a video of this? Yes, it's a big deal. Which is why I stated the above. It would be horrible to penalize every kicker in the league for something 1 man is able to do. It's been brought up a bit over the last two years. 3 different teams made at least one 60+ yard FG last year. 26 different teams made at least one 55+ yard FG last year. All 32 teams made at least one 50 yard FG last year. 4 teams made at least 10 FGs of 50+ yards. 21 teams made at least 5 FGs of 50+ yards. Go back 10 years to 2014... 0 teams made a FG of 60+ yards. 12 different teams made at least one 55+ yard FG. 29 different teams made at least one 50 yard FG. 0 teams made at least 10 FGs of 50+ yards. 7 teams made at least 5 FGs of 50+ yards. They went from 0.2 made 50+ yard FGs per game to 0.4, doubling in frequency. 2011 was the first year it reached 0.2, too. So it's actually quadrupled in frequency in the last 14 years. - - - - - - Combine that with the ball often starting on the 30 now and it's too damn easy to get in FG range now. They either need to move the post back 5 yards to the wall, or they need to make the uprights more narrow. But, is this a reason to change it? I get so tired of the NFL changing the rules. It's an achievement. All they do when they mess with this shit is preserve old-time records. Every one of these kids worked hard to achieve what they have and the rules should not be changed IMO. How many opposing teams scored on the drive after one of those missed fiel goals? I'm sure they have it somewhere; the NFL statisticians track everything. Right now, most of those uber long kick attemps are only happening at the end of games...too much of a field position risk otherwise RE: 70 yard field goal - TheLeonardLeap - 08-11-2025 (7 hours ago)pally Wrote: How many opposing teams scored on the drive after one of those missed fiel goals? FGs of 50+ Yards 1994: 66 attempted / 24 made (36.4%) 2004: 91 attempted / 53 made (58.2%) 2014: 154 attempted / 94 made (61.0%) 2024: 279 attempted / 195 made (69.9%) |
