This guy NAILS it - WeezyBengal - 01-11-2016 Not a big Lance fan, but he nails it. http://www.espn1530.com/onair/lance-mcalister-7818/when-is-marvin-going-to-be-14260288/ RE: Thus guy NAILS it - Sabretooth - 01-11-2016 Direct hit RE: Thus guy NAILS it - jj22 - 01-11-2016 It's got to be worse than 2010 for him to be held accountable. If he didn't get fired after 2010 it's hard to imagine how bad it has to get. Brown has never budged due to public and media criticism. He's never cared that we were/are the laughingstock of the league, or the butt of all jokes. That's hurt fans for years and Brown never cared. It is what it is with Marvin. Still doesn't know how it works here? What's next, Lance, a billboard? RE: Thus guy NAILS it - moemoron - 01-11-2016 Marvin is held accountable. He made it to play offs 5 years in a row, this last regular season ending 12-4. He makes average teams look good, and good teams look great. Just because most fans are jumping on the FIRE COACH bandwagon doesn't mean he is a bad coach. I never understood why fans refuse to look at the large picture, and always deal on emotion. RE: This guy NAILS it - jj22 - 01-11-2016 I haven't been pro Marvin, but Saturday was so bad you hate to see his career end like that in Cinci. Even he doesn't deserve to go out like that. With the narrative he lost control of his players after all he's done for the city and his troubled players. RE: This guy NAILS it - bengals67 - 01-11-2016 (01-11-2016, 04:43 PM)moemoron Wrote: Marvin is held accountable. The franchise, players and fans need a change. Marvin needs to man up and resign and Jackson needs to become the head coach before he leaves. Saturday was a debacle. Too much of players showing off and being selfish starting with Hill and his fumble. Team was not playing with passion until Gio got clocked. Fans cannot stand any more of this and stay loyal. You can only take so much. Time to accept responsibility Marvin and time to give someone else a chance to lead the team. If you drive 55 mph in a 55 mph zone you won't get a ticket. If you drive 55 mph in a 35 mph zone, you might. Why... because you're being held accountable. Every team should have a plan in place for making it to the Superbowl. And that plan should have some tangibles. That's the foundation of any business plan. Winning a playoff game has to be a part of that plan (because it's really, really hard to win a Superbowl without winning a playoff game). Marvin has been unable to do that to historic proportions. He needs to leave. RE: This guy NAILS it - XenoMorph - 01-11-2016 (01-11-2016, 04:36 PM)jj22 Wrote: It's got to be worse than 2010 for him to be held accountable. Due to the Lockout he was given 1 more year (2 year deal) to prevent going into a season where the coach has no idea about the players. Since then all hes done is lead winning season after winning season Improving each time as he helps build the best roster in bengals history. Cause its a completely different Team And this team has done nothing but get better every year since dalton arrived. 12-4 was a great season.... And 2 of those losses came without our Star QB And the playoffs without your QB is basically a death sentance. Im not happy like everyone else with the playoff loss. but marvin isnt the reason we lost it. This is the best this team has came out and played in the playoffs even with a backup QB after a franchise record tying season were we set records about every week. and yet you want to fire the coach and blow it all up? Worst thinking ever..... This is what you call knee jerking yourself in the face resulting in concussion. Marvin Lewis was the coach of those teams. Why the hell are we taking away 8 years of results from his track record? Marvin Lewis has proven incapable of leading his team beyond the Wild Card round. If you're ok with that then just say so. Just be honest and say that those are your expectations and he's meeting them. I ask this every year from the Pro-Marvin crowd, and I never get an answer or the can gets kicked down the road: (In you opinion) - At what point (what year) can we demand greater results/improvement in the postseason? Year 14? Year 15? Never? When exactly can we expect more? If he goes 13-3 next year and somehow gets bounced in game 1 does he get another year? It takes more than "demanding" to get something. You can cry, and hold your breath, and stomp your feet as much as you want, but that will not get you a single playoff win. Andy Reid had proven that he was on of the best coaches in the league, but the Eagles fired him because the fans demanded something better. Now Reid is still in the playoffs while the Eagles are at home looking to start over. No one here is satisfied with not winning a playoff game, but it takes more than just "demanding" a win to get one. If the team had came out flat and gotten blown out then I would be all for firing Marvin, but Marvin is the coach who had us ahead and in position to win until a fumble and some penalties gave it to the Steelers. Before the game many fans were also demanding that the Bengals step up and answer the Steelers thuggish behavior with thuggish behavior of their own. Maybe we need to demand that these fans be removed. RE: This guy NAILS it - fredtoast - 01-12-2016 Who thinks we are even close to winning that game if Marvin doesn't play Burfict? The league has fined Burfict hundreds of thousands of dollars and it didn't change his behavior. Now they are benching him. Marvin also tried everything short of benching Burfict to change his behavior. The TV announcers made a point of telling everyone that Marvin was talking directly to Burfict before the last defensive series. If Lance is sucha genius then why doesn't he say exactly what marvin is supposed to do to change Burfict. the only thing I see that he could do was bench him , and we don't win with Burfict on the bench. You see this same type of journalism in both sports and politics. People just squeal and cry about what happens, but never give a suggestion of what could be changed to fix anything. it is easy to ***** when you have no answers yourself. It is easy to point fingers and say who you think is to blame, but pointing fingers and bitching doesn't fix any problems. Coaches will do whatever to keep their best talent on the field. It happens all the time. Antonio Brown probably doesn't remember his birthday, but if he can catch a football Tomlin will have him suit up. Its not just that its every team. |
