petition for Wild Care game officiating - Hoofhearted - 01-25-2016

When looking over in Cincy jungle, I found someone created a petition for the WC game VS Pitt.

Online petitions are probably the single greatest thing the Internet has brought us.

After porn and Pizza Rat (in that order) I am forced to agree.

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about it. On 1 hand I agree, but on the other hand it is time to get over it and move on. We didn't lose in the last 2 minutes. No single play cost us the game. And we can't blame the refs. I really like McCarron, but in the first half he wasn't playing great. If one of those turn overs wasn't a turn over, but even a field goal, it would have changed the game.

So, while I agree the officiating was bad, I don't truly believe it cost us the game.

I wish ppl would search before posting.

The problem with the way that petition is structured (and why I would not sign it) is it wanders off into conspiracy theory territory instead of framing the issue correctly - lack of professionalism by the referees and by the NFL.

After Parry's crew lost control of the regular season game there was no way on Earth the NFL should have given them a playoff game, and especially not one between those two same teams they lost control of just a few weeks before. Add in multiple controversial calls which did appear to trend in one direction and especially when Gio was speared and no call was made and the recipe was set for what transpired. And to top it off they missed a game changing situation right on the field (Joey Porter on the field on purpose trying to provoke players). It all added up to the NFL using amateur referees biting them back big time.

It was said during the broadcast of the Wildcard game that it was just Parry himself, and not his regular season crew working that game. The other crew members were selected as an 'all-star' assemblage. If indeed true, those complaining about Parry and his crew should consider broadening their attacks, and not leave out other guilty officials of performing poorly.

I have to strongly disagree with the bolded. The hit and obvious intent to hurt Gio and the no-call/fumble changed the momentum and direction of the whole game. If that play was properly called. The ball would have been dead (NO FUMBLE) and a 15 yd. personal foul penalty would have given the Bengals a 1st and goal at the 7 yd line...

Give it up man, its over.

I am way over it. I was kind of shocked to find this in all honesty. I know it was a horrible display of officiating, but that was not this teams undoing.

Regulation time is 60 minutes. The Bengals could have scored any number of times and won the game, but they didn't.

But, if you really want to blame a single play for us losing that game, look no further than Jeremy Hill fumbling the ball. Literally all he had to do is not fumble and we pretty much would have won the game.

If you would like to sign the (admittedly lame worded) petition but don't want to give your real info use this link.

RE: petition for Wild Care game officiating - grampahol - 01-26-2016

I signed, but only because I didn't want the person who originated it to feel so alone. Petitions can be useful, but in this case it's pissing in the wind because it's poorly structured and doesn't really address the underlying issues and concerns. It comes over as whiney and of spoiled grapes and doesn't really have the backing of the people involved in the game or anyone who can actually effect things.
Personally I think there are way too many frivolous petitions being circulated that have zero chance of actually achieving anything. There's probably a petition out there demanding that Mike Brown change his hair style to look like Andy's hair and have black stripes added..

I would sign that petition.

I have to strongly disagree with this also. Jeremy Hill didn't fumble (I've seen still pics that prove his knee was down before the ball came out + NFL has stated as much). I've just given you 2 instances where blatantly wrong/piss-poor officiating dictated the outcome of the game within your "regulation time". Want more?

I'd like to see those pics. And also evidence that the NFL stated his knee was down. I've googled and you tubed and haven't seen any of it.
