1st mock of the year - 4 rounds - Crowe - 01-28-2016

Let's go ahead and get this free agency/draft party started.

Free Agency

In house
 Resign
    - Leon Hall 2yr deal - look to use him as a safety and #4 corner
    - Vincent Rey 1yr deal - solid backup and special teams
    - George Iloka 4yr deal - young and versatile
    - Marvin Jones 4yr deal - good number 2, can't see him as a number 1 although some might throw that type of money at him
    - Mohamed Sanu 3yr deal - solid number 3 and versatile, he can be replaced if he leaves via free agency
    - Eric Winston 1yr deal - solid vet to have in place in case of an issue, can easily be cut or replaced
    - Brandon Thompson 1yr deal - ok rotational player, coming off of injury so might not even make team
    - TJ Johnson 1yr deal - pure depth player

 Let walk
    - Andre Smith - solid at times but we have his replacement
    - Reggie Nelson - great vet, but going to be 33 coming off of injury and a career year as far as int's go, someone will overpay
    - Adam-Pacman Jones - let him test the waters then see if we can get him to a friendly vet deal
    - Emmanuel Lamur - looks lost too often, lb core needs major upgrade
    - Wallace Gilberry - solid rotational guy, but we need more athleticism and youth
    - Brandon Tate - dude = bum, need a legit returner and a player who offers more than this awful 1 trick pony
    - Pat Sims - depth player who underwhelmed

Cut
    - Domata Peko - yea he had 5 sacks, but let's be honest it has to do with the two guys next to him, he get's no push and is              getting old.
    - Margus Hunt - really hasn't gotten a chance to see the field, maybe bring back for pre-season or if injury to another player
    - AJ Hawk - father time has caught up, he's had a solid career, but doesn't offer us much

Outside Free Agents to target - hopefully we look to at least bring in a linebacker and either a DT or a CB or WR - I'll bold my top picks
    - Danny Trevathian - solid backer and would provide an upgrade
    - Bruce Irvin - possibly that rush backer we've been lacking
    - Mark Barron - could offer us some versatility as s/lb
    - Nigel Bradham - solid linebacker
    - Damon Harrison - solid DT who replaces Peko
    - Terrance Knighton - see above
    - Brandon Mebane - plays at a high level
    - Alford Morris - could offer another solid rb, but what does he have left
    - Christine Micheal - will he live up to his athleticism, could be a solid stable back
    - Anquan Boldin - tough vet, does he have anything left
    - Jermaine Kerse - solid backup receiver
    - Alshon Jeffrey - do we make a splash to take our passing attack to the next level
    - Rueben Randle - solid number 3 type receiver
    - Stefen Wisniewski - do we actually make an effort to upgrade center, and if so through FA or the draft
    - Morris Claiborne - disappointing so far, could just need a change of scenery
    - Trumaine Johnson - youth and athleticism
    - Jeremy Lane - see above
    - any kicker that our coaches feel can make a 40yd when the game is on the line

Draft highlighted my favorites
 1st round
depending on what we do in FA Ill pick a few players per the first few rounds
    - Jaylon Smith - will he fall, he sure is good
    - Derron Lee - fast and athletic
    - Andrew Billings - stout DT
 2nd round
    - Adolphus Washington
    - Will Fuller - legit deep threat who still has room to improve
    - Ryan Kelly - top center in draft
 3rd round
    - Kyler Fackrell/Tyler Matevich - small school standout at lb or hard working lunch pail type of lb
    - Su'a Cravens - is he a lb or a safety
    - Jalen Mills - will need a safety depending on free agency
 4th round
    - Braxton Miller - dynamic athlete but how will it translate to the nfl
    - Max Tuerk - a center to push Bodine
    - Scooby Wright - athletic lb, but has injury concerns

I would rather have an aging Nelson back instead of an aging Hall.

Someone is going to throw big money at MJ, I wouldn't be surprised if it was Cleveland.

I despise Winston, let him walk.

The rest of FA I can understand, but I wouldn't cut Hunt yet.  the snaps he did get in this year he looked pretty good actually.

My only issue with your draft is a 2nd round center.  I don't see Kelly being a difference maker.  I would much rather have Kyle Friend from Temple in the late rounds.

Hunt had a total of 57 defensive snaps in 2015.

He registered 1 solo tackle and 1 assisted tackle.

He doesn't even hit the ball carrier when they go by.

The guy is a total waste and another total whiff.

Whereas Winston did start several games earlier in the season and was serviceable. He is a fine option as a 4th offensive tackle or backup guard.

That's how I look at it as well. I want to see Hunt succeed, but he's been pretty non-existent whereas Winston is a serviceable vet backup that can help the two youngsters and would come cheap.
