National Media Draft Grades - WeezyBengal - 05-02-2016

Ill try to update this as the day goes on. Feel free to post if you have any. I know draft grades are completely worthless, but fun none the less.

According to Pete Prisco

Best pick: Third-round pick Nick Vigil is a tough, hard-nosed player who will push for time right away. He will be a starter in 2017 for sure.

Rotoworld gave the Bengals a B not a B-   ThumbsUp

RE: National Media Draft Grades - BritishBengal - 05-02-2016

This is an interesting article. A college football fan who knows little of the NFL giving his top 5, Bengals make an appearance.

LOL so everyone is freaking out and he thinks it's our best pick.

If we hadn't been able to steal BILLINGS, Vigil would have been my favorite pick. He's awesome!

If he does anything at all, lotsa guys will owe him a giant apology for the draft day chat, which the player saw.  Imagine how welcome that made him feel.

Just point Nick Vigil (you must ALWAYS say his first AND last name, unless using Vigilante) towards his fan club thread.

How do you know Nick saw all that? If he did... Yikes.

RE: National Media Draft Grades - Joelist - 05-02-2016

Draft grades are always funny things. They strongly tend to assume teams should all draft purely BPA and that said BPA should be based on how the player was graded by whichever organization did the draft rankings. As such, they also tend to ignore a team's system and draft philosophy as well.

RE: National Media Draft Grades - NATI BENGALS - 05-02-2016

Kind of pissed I just watched an hour and forty minutes of ESPNs two hour draft grades show. And the Bengals got talked about for like 3 seconds. They mentioned WJ3 and Boyd. That was about it. At list Jaws said he wanted to give the Bengals a plug after all the Herm Edwards whining and Kiper being on the Ravens nuts.

Why are you pissed? It's expected. I think the majority of us like the Bengals being "under the radar" anyways.

But the thing is, we got lucky that Billings fell, which he could be a game changer.

If he hadn't fell and we didn't and we would have missed out on a game changing nose, would taking Vigil have been worth it?  I don't think so because a nose to draw attention in the middle and make it harder for teams to double Geno and our ends makes our D a hundred times better.

If Vigil can make plays and be a solid contributor, I'll be thrilled, but it wasn't worth the risk.

It wasnt worth the risk? How can you honestly sit here and say that before the guy has even played 1 game in the NFL?

We wont know how the risk reward pans out until at least a couple of years.

Because a good SAM, while being an improvement, wasn't a glaring need that could make as big of an impact as a dominant nose might.

Reminds me of the love Tebow got.

RE: National Media Draft Grades - fredtoast - 05-03-2016

All the people who were calling for Billings early in the draft is just more proof that the Bengals know more about this than the fans.

If we had taken Billings in the third it would have been a huge reach according to all 32 NFL teams. I trust them more than all the draft "experts" out there. the teams have information that none of these analyst do.

BTW I will point out that I did the exact same thing with Sims when he came out of Auburn. I mocked him as our second round pick and we ended up getting him in the third. Only difference was I did not call the Bengals stupid for not drafting him in the second round. Instead I congratulated them for playing it better than i would have.

He is a MLB though, not a SAM. If he becomes our future MLB than his value is greater than that of a future NT.

By this logic, taking Geno Atkins in the 3rd round would be a huge reach because 32 teams passed on him. Even you recognize how silly that logic is.
