Our Movie Ladder - StLucieBengal - 05-25-2016 Ok for a while now we have been doing this to find a movie to watch. It's been fun because some years are tough to choose. My wife not being born here she wasn't able to see a lot of movies that we all saw. So we started on her birth year and watched 1 movie per year. It's amazing to see what movies were what years. We have kodi on a chromebox for our television. And we used the exodus app movies by year. Here is what we watched so far. We rotated choosing the movie every year. Kids didn't get a vote since this is when they go to bed. 1986 - Money Pit 1987 - Overboard (wife's fav movie) 1988 - They Live (one of my favs) 1989 - Say Anything 1990 - Tremors 1991 - Father of the Bride 1992 - Resevoir Dogs 1993 - Sleepless in Seattle 1994 - Pulp Fiction 1995 - yet to be decided..... I'm sure you can guess who chooses what year lol. This has started into a thing and we are having fun with it .... It came up over dinner last weekend with our friends and now they plan on giving it a go. What Movies would you choose for your ladder or where did we go wrong lol. There were a bunch of years where I could have watched several movies.... Also makes me sad that movies now are just remakes or political/social statements.... Where is the creativity these days? RE: Our Movie Ladder - BengalsRocker - 05-25-2016 I went over to my father-in-laws this weekend and he was watching Grease 2. Such a horrible flick. My wife and me couldn't believe he was watching it. Anyway. Out of curiosity and boredom I got on my smartphone and looked up the reviews and time of release. On the same weekend of it's opening... ET:The Extra-terrestrial , Poltergeist, and Rocky III came out. To sit there and see those 3 classic movies that are past cultural icons on that list was dumbfounding. It's absolutely criminal what this generation thinks are good movies. While doing this list we could have spent a long time on each one of these years so far. It will be interesting to see what year the movies start dropping off. RE: Our Movie Ladder - BengalsRocker - 05-25-2016 I'd say 1987 is a real tough one. Overboard wasn't bad but should get beat out by a lot of flicks that year. I agree with you on there being much better ones. 1995 is hers and I think she may go for another off the beaten path. Rent-a-Kid. I may head that off by watching it with the children. You must Choose Wisely (from an 1989 movie) you might want to dedicate several night or a week to 1 year... stretch it out longer. RE: Our Movie Ladder - oncemoreuntothejimbreech - 05-29-2016 Inside Out McFarland, USA Trainwreck Tomorrowland Self/less The Intern Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse The Good Dinosaur Daddy's Home The Hateful Eight The Revenant Movies I enjoyed from 2015. There are more I still want to see that might expand that list. So I think the reported death of the movie industry is greatly exaggerated. Watched The Big Short this weekend. It deserves to be on that list. Amazing people are still blaming the wrong people.
