RE: The Greatest is Gone - Sabretooth - 06-04-2016

I met him once when he visited Richmond Va , he was handing out 1 dollar bills at east end junior high school around 1967.
He truly stood behind his beliefs.
Rest in Peace Champ......

One of my all time favorites. The world is a lesser place without him. The Rumble in the Jungle was an epic masterpiece.

RIP champ.... The Rumble in the Jungle took place on the day that I was born. That really has no relevance, but I think it's cool..... Ali bomaye!

The way this year has gone down, I knew he was leaving soon right when I heard he was in the hospital.

R.I.P. Champ

A sad day indeed.

Gone is the guy who invented trash talk. Shame.

It's a special thing when an athlete can transcend his sport and be just as influential outside of it.

A great boxer, and a great man.

Rest in peace, Mohammed.

Obama tweeted about Ali's death. Regardless of what you think of Obama, when a sitting U.S. President acknowledges your death you were a pretty big deal.

At one time Muhammad Ali was probably the most recognizable name/face on the planet.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar put a nice little acknowledgement on Facebook. It said of Ali, in part, "...I may be 7'2" but I never felt taller than when standing in his shadow..."

You are exactly right.

They were discussing his passing around midday on NFL radio yesterday when the comment was made that the world would be a much different place today had he not developed Parkinsons.

He was a dominating figure and presence, who was not afraid to be outspoken on matters of principle or social justice.  Alas, that voice was brought to a whisper in the 80's with the disease, and went silent altogether from the 90s until the present.

I can assure you that he would have been outspoken on many of the issues of the past three decades and made the world a better place as a result of his voice and intervention.

“If you even dream of beating me you'd better wake up and apologize.”

"I'm so mean, I make medicine sick."

"I should be a postage stamp. That's the only way I'll ever get licked."

"Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn't matter which color does the hating. It's just plain wrong."

“He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.”

"A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.”

“Live everyday as if it were your last because someday you're going to be right.”

Just a few of the quotes from the Champ.  RIP
