We Stink in the Trenches - Fan_in_Kettering - 10-30-2016

Paul Brown would be horrified.

The Bengals are going nowhere fast if the line play on both sides of the ball doesn't improve. On offense the line is collapsing faster than a geriatric member whose Viagra just wore off and run blocking is abysmal. The defensive line couldn't touch Kirk Cousins more than once in 56 attempts -- and he's as mobile as a fire hydrant. The defensive line can't stop running backs either which puts pressure on the Cincinnati linebackers whose 40 yard dash can be timed with a sundial.

Keep that trench talk on the d line this week.  The o line did alright.

On what planet? They didn't open holes for Jeremy Hill or Giovani Bernard. When is the last time a Bengal runner rushed for over 100 yards in a game against any team besides Cleveland?

The Bengals rushed for over 150 yards as a team, mate. And that''s including -21 from Daltons sacks. Just because it's not done by one player doesn't mean anything.

The D line got 1 sack on 56 drop backs.

Some credits to the Skins OL.  It seems to me the Bengals blitzed more today than usual and they picked them up well. There were a few passes Cousins made that were thrown milliseconds before he got popped.

Agreed, Cousins and their Oline did a great job against the blitz/our secondary did a terrible job of covering.

And the same thing with our O against their D. Maybe that's why we tied

agreed though we can't seem to get one week where both lines turn up.

Today it was the turn of the D-line who apart from Atkins were completely anonymous.

Peko was atrocious ...the only time i noticed him was when he was jumping on a pile late and when it was already 5 yards behind him. His only contribution was to f*ck up Burficts knee.

Really missed Dunlap today. He's played good all year but he was handled by Moses today and no-other end picked up the slack. M Johnson has no tread on his tires at all

The year long truth of it. The line needs to improve A LOT.

Alexander and Og claim they are making improvements, but the rate they are going it will be 2025 before this line can be called good.

Agree completely

Aree here as well. Bengals blitzed a lot and it was mostly picked up.

But Gruden addressed it immediately. Did not have first round pick first year but out of his first 3 picks each year he spent half of them on o-line taking 2 OGs and  a OT.  Then mixed in 2 LB's and a RB.

Our O-line can not pass protect to save their lives this season.

Poor strength and conditioning.

A fleshy Burfict hurt his knee (was it the micro fracture knee?  I don't know).  I hope yet another miss on an injury won't have lasting consequences.  Why can't the strength and conditioning staff have Burfict return in great shape?  Instead he is too heavy and risking his playing health and career.

Our offensive line has the bodies of college players except for Whitworth.

Agree,

We're getting beat in the trenches more often than not. With the way the O-line started season can't believe I'm saying this but I believe the D line may even be playing worse now.

If this team gets to 7-8-1 they'll be flying. In no way, shape, or form does this look like a playoff team.

We "stink" in the trenches because we've got a bunch of turds on our team
