Refs Picking Up Flags? - GreenCornBengal - 10-31-2016 We saw them pick up the flag on Blount in the NE game. He stuck his hand up in Shawn Williams facemask, and it was blatantly seen and called... but then picked up. Yesterday, an official threw a flag on Norman for illegal contact and ALSO threw his hat because a Redskins safety speared AJ Green helmet to helmet. I saw him explaining to the other refs that he threw his hat because of the targeting of a defenseless receiver. Literally read his lips on television. They then went on to say that there was no flag for unnecessary roughness. Why are officials allowed to pick up their flags? They obviously came out for a reason. Well you always want the conference to be able to get a play right, which is why it is allowed, but they were wrong there. Nopt a huge gripe, the guy will get fined and we still got a first down. RE: Refs Picking Up Flags? - BleedNOrange - 10-31-2016 Yeah, I have no idea how that wasn't a penalty on the hit to AJ. However, the refs were not the issue for us. We actually got some calls to go our way. The defense, special teams, and costly turn-overs were our issue. Pretty much the whole team. RE: Refs Picking Up Flags? - GreenCornBengal - 11-27-2016 Another case today of a picked up flag... Not sure why they even throw them if they can just take them away. It was a blatant PI too.... not sure what the grounds for picking it up was... speaking of which, Lafell was manhandled today and never got a call. Felt bad for the guy, they didn't let him play. The only positive from today is Lafell was in the process of getting open several times and got straight up raped with no call more than once. |
