Stupid solstice question - michaelsean - 12-21-2016

If the earth weren't tilted, what would our season(s) be like? My first inclination is constant summer at the equator, and winter at the poles, but I really don't know enough about rotation, orbit, and angles and how they work together to actually figure out what our seasons would be.

Without the Tilt (barring any changes that would have caused to the terrain/weather patterns)  It would be about constant year round where ever you happen to be I would believe.  except for the non perfect orbit we have would cause slight variation.

the sun would rise and set at the same time every day all year round...  you know Complete and udder madness.

Not trying to impugn the OP's inquiry, just thought this was funny Smirk

and by that you mean it would be cold at the poles and warm at the equator... which is pretty much it. No tilt, no seasons.

Pretty sure it would hork the world as we know it. The Earth would spin faster on its axis without the big wobble (there would still be the small wobble that Xeno mentioned), so days would be faster.. Things that rely on the changing thermodynamics of the seasons such as the Gulf stream and the Jet Stream would be gone. Polar ice caps would stretch farther and places like Great Britain would be frozen over. We would lose a lot of bio-diversity and humans would probably have not developed.

Which is exactly why God made the earth tilt, causing the seasons. Ninja

The sun would never set on the north and south poles.

It would be pretty cool to watch the sun run along the horizon all day though.

And then, on day 1,297,673,498,376,217,983,583,456,789, God said to himself, "I wonder what would happen if I made the Earth suddenly and completely stop?"... knowing that He already knew the answer.

Hilarious

For someone who claims to know the "Bible", you have the "3" wrong.

Oh, you're using the NIV...that explains it. The NIV was created using the Codex Vaticus while the KJV was created using the Textus Receptus which we all know is the correct manuscript.
