Way-Too-Early Offseason Moves - CincyWestside - 01-04-2017 Now that the season is over and Marvin Lewis is pretty much assuredly going to return for 2017, we can only look to next season (and root against the Steelers in the playoffs). What moves should the Bengals be making either via the draft, free agency, or internal moves that can make 2017 a rebound year back into playoff relevance? Our upcoming 2017 Free Agents: Andrew Whitworth, 35 Domata Peko, 32 Brandon LaFell, 30 Dre Kirkpatrick, 27 Kevin Zeitler, 26 Eric Winston, 33 Cedric Peerman, 30 Margus Hunt, 29 Wallace Gilberry, 32 Brandon Thompson, 27 Chykie Brown, 30 Bradon Boykin, 26 Randy Bullock, 27 Rex Burkhead, 26 Also, we are picking 9th in the 2017 draft. What I would do in bold RE: Way-Too-Early Offseason Moves - CincyWestside - 01-05-2017 Starting with our free agents: I would resign: Whit for 2 years Rex for 2 years Peerman for 1 year Winston for 1 year Lafell for 1 year *Peko for 1 year Trade: I would trade McCarron for anything that is 3rd round or above Cut: Jeremy Hill Adam Jones Karlos Dansby Rey Maualuga Draft Priorities: DE/DL LB C *only after he sits on the market for a while and can come cheap to provide leadership to younger players. RE: Way-Too-Early Offseason Moves - Nate (formerly eliminate08) - 01-05-2017 CJD had a great post and i agree with his moves as far as who we bring back. So i will talk coaches which is where this team sucks the most... We need to cut bait with PA, Zampese and Haslett. Improve these coaching positions since Marv will be back. Hire Munoz as O-line coach baby. Urban needs to be looked at for OC, he is one of the few coaches that has done well here and should be rewarded. Just improve the LB coach, the Linebackers were thought to be a major strength going into last season and ended up being a major weakness. They were out of position far too often and even seemed lost in many games, this should not happen. I don't know if Takeo Spikes has the brains to be a LB coach or not, need some names here, i just thought of Takeo cause he has been around. RE: Way-Too-Early Offseason Moves - Trademark - 01-05-2017 Andrew Whitworth - Re-Sign for 2 years Domata Peko - Don't re-sign his time has come to an end. Brandon LaFell - Re-sign for 2 years, him and Andy developed good chemistry late in the season. Dre Kirkpatrick - Re-sign for 4 years, he really started to come into his own and show why the Bengals took him in the first round. Kevin Zeitler - Let walk because he will be wanting too much money unfortunately Eric Winston - Re-sign for two years, provides another veteran presence and proved that he can still be a starter. Cedric Peerman - Re-sign, it's no coincidence that our special teams played better once he returned Margus Hunt - Let walk, he showed flashes here and there but nothing to special to keep Wallace Gilberry - Re-sign for 2 years, he really shines late in the year Brandon Thompson - Goodbye, too injury prone Chykie Brown - Let walk Bradon Boykin - Goodbye Randy Bullock - Let walk Rex Burkhead - Re-sign if we move on from Hill, unless Fournette falls to us RE: Way-Too-Early Offseason Moves - Hammerstripes - 01-05-2017 I don't get the logic in letting Zeitler walk. If he can be signed for market value - around $10 million, you have to bring him back. Saying that we can replace him with Westerman is a joke. Our line was bad enough this year, it would be much worse rolling out: Whitworth, Boling, Bodine, Westerman, Fisher That leaves no confidence at all. We still have $6 million in cap space for THIS year, there's no reason we can't use that to sign one of our guys before end of the league year. Just doubt we can from what Jim O and company have been saying. |
