Alright, here is my first Mock of 2021. I am assuming after Pollack worked with Sewell more than any other coach
at his Pro Day that he is our pick at 5 now. Would be happy with Pitts or Chase too but I think Pitts gets grabbed by
the Falcons.
1st Round: Penei Sewell OT Oregon - Our future bookend but also can play Guard for us early on if we want to keep
Jonah at LT and Reiff at RT. Great run blocker with great feet and can grow in pass protection.
2nd Round: Quinn Meinerz OG/C UW-Whitewater - This dude loves to just blast people, seek and destroy Guard who
can also play Center which is great with Hopkins coming off of injury. We take this guy in front of the Steelers who
really like him ha ha.
3rd Round: Milton Williams DT Louisiana Tech - Our Geno replacement, insane athlete and great inside pass rusher.
Have also heard we are very interested in this guy so also likely.
4th Round: Nico Collins WR Michigan - 6'4" fast WR that could be an upgrade over AJ right off the bat.
5th Round: Patrick Jones II DE Pittsburgh - Edge rusher that we need badly. Doubt he will be around in the 5th but
you never know. Our pass rush is now upgraded big time.
5th Round: Tommy Tremble TE Notre Dame - All around TE that is more of a pass catching weapon than anything
we currently have. Another weapon for Burrow.
6th Round: Evan McPherson K Florida - Best Kicker in the Draft some believe. Replaces Bullock.
7th Round: Cade Johnson WR/RS San Diego State - Return Specialist for Simmons who could replace Erickson.
Thoughts?

Love it. I was thinking to suggest Humphrey instead of Meinerz, but then I saw your reasoning and I'm sold. I might even announce it, "With the sixth pick in the second round, the Cincinnati Bengals select Quinn Meinerz from Pittsburg--- oh no, my bad. Quinn Meinerz from Wisconsin-Whitewater..."

LOVE IT
First two picks lock it up for me and then the rest is just icing on the cake.
Williams and Collins are perfect for us.
I love the Tremble pick because it will make the defense cover the entire field and will keep the safeties in the middle of the field. He's underrated, IMCO.

If the Bengals go OL, in the fashion that you described in 1 and 2? I would be over the top enthusiastic about the chances of Joe Burrow leading this team to a Superbowl victory. The fact that you also addressed DL, TE, WR, along with other positions is just further proof that we don't need a WR at the top of the draft.
Well done, my friend!
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Make you a deal, you dress up and work on sounding like Tobin... I'll go find the real one and lock him in a shed somewhere till after the draft.
Then you sit in for him and make this mock happen.

I like it but Nico will be long gone before the 4th. Cade Johnson is more than likely just a special teamer. So we lost AJ and Erickson and Ross and you have us taking a WR in the 4th who'll probably be gone in the 2nd and a 7th round WR who is more than likely a special teamer. SO not overly impressed with that aspect of your mock. The rest looks good tho.

Yeah, would love Humphrey as well but he is primarily a Center. Meinerz can play both Guard and Center and the Steelers
are interested in him, doubt he makes it past them and into the 3rd. So that is why I take Meinerz at 38, rub it in their faces.

Thinking this way myself, I don't know if Nico or Jones last this long is my only problem with my own mock here.
Tremble is really underrated in this Draft IMO.

Thanks brother. The thing is we need to protect Burrow more than anything, if it came out this way I would be extremely happy.
Some good Receivers could fall with all the covid crap that happened last year and certain players sitting out.
Thanks again Sunset.

Who knows with him sitting out last year. Lots of things could happen in this Draft that is even more extreme than usual.
That is my only concern with this Mock doubting Nico and Jones II specifically lasting that long but who knows?

Great mock, although I'd be surprised to see Collins and Tremble fall that far.
I'm seeing Collins projected in the 2nd, possibly falling to early 3rd, and I'm seeing Tremble talked about as a 3rd rounder now.
Patrick Jones is an anomaly. I think he's worth a 3rd rounder, but I've seen some people project him into the 4th round. Getting him in Rd 5 would also be a steal IMO.
I think Meinerz needs to be groomed for a year before starting. I think he did better against players in Senior Bowl because no one knew him and had no tape to study. Once people start getting tape on him, his lack of playing in a better conference will start to show.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

Yeah, agree with all your points Ocho. The Draft is a crapshoot man you never know how far certain players fall for whatever
reason. Collins sat out last year, Tremble has been overlooked a lot lately and I don't know why. ND puts out a lot of good TE's
and good O-lineman speaking of which I am going to do my 2nd Mock later today with us taking Chase while looking at Liam
Eichenberg in the 2nd as it seems we are leaning towards Chase right now.
At least this is what I have been hearing at the moment. Thanks Ocho.

Love Meinerz and Williams. I don't see how Jones would be there that late, and same goes for Collins, but would be happy if they were. Don't know as much about Tremble (sure hate his name) but a late round TE makes sense, as does the kicker.
I just can't get behind passing on Ja'Marr Chase. Our division had two teams that could blanket Boyd and Higgins with their best guys and we didn't have an answer. Chase solves that. I know you aren't one of them, but passing on Sewell doesn't mean you aren't concerned with protecting Burrow. The Bengals need a draft pick to come in and start at RG. Bottom line. That could be a true guard like Meinerz or a projected tackle like Leatherwood. If you think about it from an NFL averages standpoint, most teams will be prioritizing WR, OT, QB, CB, and DE in the early rounds. Those are the premium positions. Guard tends to be a little bit later in the draft. I can't help but think a player like Cleveland or Meinerz would be there at the top of round 3. The Bengals could get the developmental OT in Rd 2 (Spencer Brown?) and the plug and play guard in Rd 3.
I just don't see the short-shuttle, gets open NOW-type WR in the 2nd to 4th rounds and if everyone wants to hitch their wagon to Boyd and Higgins, I suggest they watch the all 22 tape from the baltimore and steeler games. No one was open.

Yeah, I know you are team Chase I was just trying to solidify the trenches with this Draft and this isn't messing around as you
can see ha ha. I am going to do a Chase Mock later today that I think you will like a lot more. One thing about this if Nico fell
to the 4th he would be that guy that could get open and open things up for Boyd and Higgins.
Cade Johnson is also a speedster.
Thanks for the thoughts man.

This is a draft that would definitely improve the team. Love it from top to bottom. This one and one of OSUFans mocks are my two favorites on here so far.

Thats what I am talkin' about. Thanks Bengaloo.
Takes care of the trenches, something we tend to just think is okay year after year and it never is.
Well they haven't been in a long time. The last time we were solid in the trenches we were winning.
