WELCOME Tyler Shelvin, DT, LSU
#1
Bengals adding to D Line

CBS SPORTS says Will Help Run Defense Immediately. Athletic with Pass Rush Skills. Monster of a Human Being, but must keep weight down. CBS gives pick an A-, which means CBS likes the pick.

So a Big LSU DT

1 more pick in round 4 to come.

So Far, 2 offense, 3 defense.....so maybe offense coach gets last pick in round 4.

After Chase at WR, Bengals have drafted TRENCHES next 4 picks. That I LOVE, because I have considered Bengals WEAK in The Trenches. Too Weak To Compete. So I'm loving the Trench Players added. THE BIG BOYS.

I would like to thank you for keeping the positivity during this whole process. Appreciate seeing these posts congratulating our new players.

seems like a Josh Topou replacement? Not sue the status on him and if Reader will be ready for week one?
I like term Kiper used to describe another DT with similar size. Hes an "Occupier"  at very least and maybe may provide some push in rushing.

There is a lot of man right there. Really good short area quickness for someone as large as him. Pretty much an unmovable force. They will get some weight off of him which will make him an even better player. He should be a real asset on first and second down.

Hopefully he doesn't lose weight and it just transfers from fat to muscle because muscle weighs more than fat ThumbsUp

How was our run D the last 4-5 years?

Love the big boy. Wasn't sold on Tupou. Another big piece from the undefeated championship LSU team.

Probably bumping Wren off the roster.

I hope not. Wren was getting better I thought. His problem IMO, was he didn't know what to do after he got by his blocker. I hope it's Topou that gets bumped.

Wilfork type, love it. Shelvin is great insurance in case Tupou isn't in shape. Run stopping NT. Nailing this Draft.

Only so many places you can go to with one and a half scouts. Guess they got bored going to Georgia.

Not a big fan of this pick. Too many concerns for one post, but I just think he's a player from a bygone era. I'm not sure if he's another guy that we picked primarily on account of Burrow- and if so, not sure if that makes it better or worse lol.

To be fair, Shelvin's a run-stuffer and we've had problems up the middle for a while. But as a pass-rusher, even as a 0-tech, I don't think he's just raw- I think he's ineffective. Which hurts a team like us that will need him to do more than just take up space. At worst, he'll be ghosted once we move on from Lou. At best, we'll facilitate his development before he proceeds to blossom for another team (NE?). In either case, I don't think he's the right fit. Maybe he can be a goal line specialist- but his technique in that area is not refined either imo.

Of course, I hope he proves me wrong. He's great energy, he'll be popular in the locker room, and those intangibles are important for team-building as well.

Think his family is excited he’s headed to Cincy to play with Joe and Ja’Marr? I love these videos.
