Start it easy enough with Garrett strikes again, or Garrett stinks again.
Reds are trying to win Phillies series Wednesday June 2nd. Reds clobbered Phillies Monday, but Phillies beat the heck out of Reds Tuesday.
Garrett came in middle relief and gave up 4 earned runs in 1 inning pitched. Forget about Garrett as a Closer, he can't even pitch middle relief. He has been awful all 2021. He had injuries between his good years and this year, so maybe he never really came back from those injuries, because he is nothing close to what he use to be. This happens to many relievers, they have a couple good years and that's it. I think they pitch their arms off pitching so many games in a year. I think that's what happened to Tom Hall, Rob Dibble and many others. Rob Dibble was great for a couple years, and then overnight he was batting practice. There must be only so many pitches in the human arm. Some relievers have long careers, but most have short careers. Garrett is now serving up batting practice every game. The relievers that have long great careers are freaks of nature, because it seems most relievers have shorts careers from over work. Probably never sign a reliever to a long term contract of many years.
Castellano hit streak is at 18 games
Reds still have chance to win this series with Phillies on Wednesday.
WRONG : Game postponed to June 28th due to RAIN. This game called off around 10:30 AM, so must be a lot of rain coming.
So for now the Reds vs Phillies is a split series, to be continued June 28th. Reds next game is Thursday in St Louis.

Right. Reds win first game of Cardinals series
Castellanos hit streak at 19 games. Can he make it 20 Friday. We have a ways to go before we are looking at Pete Rose or Joe DiMaggio, but 20 is getting up there. Something is wrong if he isn't a starting All-Star. Batting over .350, one of leaders in homers in MLB, and longest hitting streak in baseball this season. On pace for an MVP year, and Castellano is out to show he is one of best players in the game, that is his mission. To show he is one of the Elites in the game. so far he is having a Joe DiMaggio type season in batting average and homers and the hit streak. Something is wrong if he isn't a high vote getter for All-Star Game. Only the greats of Ruth, Hornsby, Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Stan Musial bat over .350 and also are leaders in Home Runs. That is the type season Castellanos is having after 2 months.

Yep
Reds notch a road win with new pitcher. You can chalk tonight up as L with Castillo starting but I'm hoping for a split in the series with Cards. Then they have Brewers and Rockies at home for 6. They need to get the broom out in that Rockies series.

OK, how many times are Cardinals pitchers going to hit Reds batters? Three times last night, and three more tonight through the top of the fifth.

Castellanos extended his hit streak to 20 Games
Castillo gave Reds a good outing. Hopefully more of those to come out of him.
Cincinnati ahead 4-1 in the 9th inning, and should win this if they don't bring in Garrett. Now 6 to 1.

Doolittle tried to give it away but Felix comes in and saves the day. Great start from Castillo. That's 2 good starts in a row for Castillo. Hopefully a sign he's turning it around.

Castellanos extends hit streak to 21 games
Cincinnati ahead 4 to 2 in 7th, with 2 on and no outs to add to the lead. They made it 5 to 2 on a wild pitch and a throwing error by the catcher to third base on same pitch. .
Mahle pitched well, and if you are looking for Fantasy League Pitchers, he is one of the better ones to add lately. Good ERA and putting up positive points.
Reds trying to go 3 and 0 in this 4 game series with division rival St Louis Cardinals . They could win today and try to get out The Broom Sunday for a 4 game Sweep. Cincinnati has been playing St Louis as long as there has been baseball, one of the oldest match-ups and certainly one of the oldest Mid West battles of around 121 some years. The Gas House Gang, The Gibson Brock team, The Big Red Machine. My guess is 4 games sweeps are rare, even over this many decades.

Reds win again, take the series and go for the sweep tomorrow! If Cubs lose tonight they are only 4 back of first despite being in 4th in the division.

Cubs do lose and so Reds are just 4 games back of first.

Looked like Akiyama nearly missed that diving catch. Good thing he was wearing an outfielders glove instead of an infielders glove.. lol

The Castellanos Hit Streak is Fun to watch. He is at 21.
Which Reds after 1900 and start of World Series have had hitting streaks of 30 games or more. Pete Rose, Hal Morris, Vada Pinson. It would be great to see Castellanos join that group.

Reds up 7-0 so far through 3. Amazingly Castellanos does not have a hit yet.

God this bullpen. 7-0 to start the bottom of the 6th and it's now 7-5 with bases loaded and still no one out. It also doesn't help when the home plate ump misses a clear strike 3 on Carpenter which should have 1 out on the board with the score 7-2 and then he hits the next pitch off the wall scoring 2.

Bell is a joke. No reason to pull Wade after 5 innings. And now look at where we are.

Wade was close to 100 pitches so i get why he did it. Winker just hit his 3rd homer of the game in the 9th to put the Reds back on top. If Bell sends out anyone other than Sims he should be shot.

Wow Sims allows 2nd and 3rd with no out and gets the next 3 to win it and complete the sweep!!! Castellanos hit streak comes to an end however.
