You are delusional. It's definitely possible to be excited about the Bengals but also remain realistic about them. You're just 100% Denny-mode 100% of the time. You spin EVERYTHING positively, and that's obnoxious. It's pointless to have a serious football conversation with somebody that's unwilling to look at things for how they are without putting a spin on it. You can be as happy as you want and I'm glad you're happy, but it makes for a shitty conversation online when we're trying to seriously discuss the team.

I'm not broke, I just spend my money on other things and I'd rather put hundreds and thousands of dollars per year into savings for my future and my children rather than loading up on season tickets, black and orange face and body paint, and obnoxious lawn ornaments to show my support for a team that hasn't done shit for me since I was born. Also, I live in western Pennsylvania, so while I actually wouldn't mind going to PBS occasionally, it's not worth the trip until I feel like the team is actually trying to win football games. That doesn't mean giving the same mediocre coach extension after extension when he clearly doesn't deserve it. It also doesn't mean giving the same garbage players extension after extension to keep them around, yeah, that's really giving a shit about the fans.

As I said, they know there are enough goofballs like you out there willing to give them all your money no matter how much they don't try to get to the next level. Have fun explaining to your kids why they have to pay their own way to go to community college because daddy was too busy in a circlejerk with his douche bag friends every Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium year after year after year watching his favorite team not make it past the wild card round of the playoffs.

You have all the right in the world to not fiscally support the organization. 

The moves they make.  The futility in playoff success for long lengths of time.

It's your money/time/commitment invested.

That guy is self righteous for supporting them to no end.  He's in it strictly for the entertainment value.

I've been a bengals fan since '78. My wife could attest to my obsession over the years. This year i'm not really jacked up like i usually am as TC approaches. 

I won't be attending any games this year and i can't see myself buying anything with the bengals logo on it. 

38 years is a long time to be attached to something. Those 38 years have also given me plenty of reference to draw from. Starting year 4 with the same cast (Owner, Coach, Coaches, QB) that has failed to get beyond the 1st round of the playoffs has me less than enthused. 

I have no issues whatsoever with being here and calling myself a bengals fan while not supporting them financially until something changes.

Are you still confused?  Or would you like to further YOUR definition of what a true "fan" is?  Everyone is different, and just because they don't live up to YOUR standards of what a fan is, matters not.  There are many ways to be a fan....Chris.

Couldn't agree more.  I'm spending my football money going to dirt races with my brother, taking my handicapped pops to a couple Reds games, a couple concert festivals, and my wife and kids to the Southern 500 at Darlington, and on to the beach from there.  The decision to extend Mediocre Marv had me leaning that way, kicking us to the curb cemented that notion........
