Yes. We've wallowed in our own shit over this loss long enough. Time for Cleveland.

I have watched other games over the last few years and have always disliked this call. Especially when it’s in a one on one situation like this play was. That is just my opinion. If you are gonna allow the offensive player to lower his head (which they should) then the defender has to be able to do the same. Hell if his shoulder pad hits the ball carriers helmet they can flag that as well. If I am playing defense I don’t want a running backs helmet right to the gut or groin if I can avoid it. Just doesn’t make sense. I don’t think this call cost us the game but it did cost us one last “chance” with the ball. However nobody knows if we would have scored.

We were mounting a comeback and we deserved a shot to finish the game with a w, which we were denied by that horrible call.
A team's playing good or bad shouldn't factor in to whether the game is officiated correctly.

Man Brad. You're getting stubborn in your old age. I knew when they drove down the field like shit through a goose, on that opening drive, we were flat. We got our asses handed to us. Period. As Harley said, move on man. You don't have to ALWAYS be right bro.

Like I said, we responded and were going to have a good chance to win the game.
Opening drive means nothing in the fourth quarter.

Holy shit, they were up 11 with 8 minutes to play in the 4th? How in the hell is that "getting your ass handed to you."
The game came down to a few things, in my opinion...
Not getting 3 points early (failed 4th and 3 attempt)
Burrows INT late.
2 shit calls by refs (Jets non-TD and Bengals "helmet hit" on Jets final drive)
That's it. Change ANY of those things, and maybe the outcome is different.
Yes, the Bengals played poorly, but still had a chance to win. It's not like they were blown out and the game was over midway through the 4th.

Poor play, poor plan, poor prep, a QB 1st start (always been a bengals Achilles heel) we make then look like MVP’s. If anything the interception hurt worse than the penalty. This game was the old bangles we know and love. Who dey!
I do believe the call was BS. What is a defender to do? If I was a running back I would just lower my head befor a hit and take the penalty. Should be reviewable. If both players lower a head one should not get the call.

Easy there man. All I'm saying is that the team looked flat. Okay? Yes, I realize what the score was and the time, I was watching it. So I never said they couldn't win. But it was the Jets, and they WERE flat. So I guess we agree to disagree.

Well I guess that explains why not a single person has used false information or personal attacks in this thread.
The fact that we failed to score on the previous drive proves there was no guarantee we would have scored if we got the ball back again.
Therefore you can't say we lost because of that single bad call.
Thread end.

I've seen Burrow operate the 2 minute drill enough times to believe if we had been given the ball back, as we should have been but for the horrendous call, I think there is a high probability we score. But there's no way of knowing so it's all moot. The refs screwed that call. Every thing else is conjecture.

It did not take any of our points off the board or add any to the Jets.
We just got our ass kicked today. Refs had nothing to do with it.
How did we get our asses kicked? We were up 11 points with 7 minutes to go with a 98% chance of winning.
I get that we didn't play super well (especially the D), but this game was more than winnable and that play 1000% mattered.
A lot of you in this thread just excuse the call because the Bengals were losing at that point to an inferior team. That shouldn't excuse it. The call was horrible and it 100% mattered at that point in time.
The boys are just talkin' ball, babyyyy

Jets ran 24 more plays for 193 more yards, 14 more first downs, and 12:40 more time of possession. The score does not reflect the fact that they kicked our ass up and down the field all day. We got one-third of our total offense on 2 plays. We were handed the ball on the Jets 1 yard lione and could not score a single point.

Everyone agrees that the bad call COULD HAVE mattered. But there is no way you can say it is the reason we lost when we had just failed to drive the ball the last time we had possession.

Actually, it does. What if the Jets didn't score on the opening drive? The score and the flow of the rest of the game is different.
I think we can all agree that the Jets wanted it more and had a very nice gameplan that was executed very well. Kudos to them. You can't blow an 11 point lead in the 4th quarter and think you deserve to win.
On to Cleveland.

Ha!
So, if a team scores, they're guaranteed to score on their next drive?
There's never any guarantee, but Burrow's great at the two-minute drill, we would have had decent field position, and we should have at least had the chance to tier or win.
End thread.

The Jets D would have been tired and Burrow would have carved them up.

Obviously it means something when you consider it in the bigger aspect, but I'm saying that it has no impact on the way we were playing in the fourth quarter because we responded and were playing well. You can't change the fact that we were flat but you can respond with your play for the rest of the game.

Dude. It was a bad call. No one is arguing with you. Most of us just think that one play is NOT the reason we lost. Accept it. We should have had a big enough lead, against the 1 - 5 Jets to win. Good lord.

Why Can't we have an eye in the sky with a 3 person panel that could overrule obvious mistakes in real time? Everyone would be much happier.

They do have. They have the Hawkeye system, which has been explained to be numerous cameras at different angles they can run all at the same time. Supposedly, there are 4 or 5 feeds from the tv cameras, but in addition to that there are numerous other cameras television does not have access to. That is supposedly why they make calls on review all the analysts disagree with. I think a play like that one should be reviewed just like a targeting call in college. Get it right.

Frankly, would have been really cool to see Joe come back and win that game. Sad he never got the chance.
