Hey everyone I started a GoFundMe for my dog Runt. I don’t have a ton of personal friends, but I know the best way to try to reach your goal is to share it with as many people as possible. I hate asking for money but I spent most of my last paycheck I had available to get him seen and tested by our local vet and get medicine to see if it helped. He still has one bad eye and needs to see a specialist, so I didn’t think it would be fair to my buddy to not try everything I could to help pay his bills.
My goal plan was putting in mind his consultation, extra tests and possible surgery cost if it will help. I’m not going to pocket anything not used. I don’t know exactly what I would do if we ended up with more than needed, but my first thoughts would be to donate it to a pet health fund of some sort or forward it along in someway if we did well enough to cover his medical.
Even if it’s just a dollar every little bit will help. We’ve already hit 10% of our goal and I’m very surprised, but happy my small circle of friends was able to help us that much so soon.
Here’s the link if anyone wants to donate i greatly would appreciate:

I did want to bump this thread since I posted it so late last time, just to get a little more potential exposure.

I'll give your thread a little nudge as well. I know how stressful and upsetting it can be to have a pet with health issues. I wish the best for you and Runt.

Thanks George his specialist visit is set for Thursday, but he seems to be going downhill fast so I’m not sure. We’ll have to wait and see. Been trying to keep him rested for the next few days as best I can.

Sorry to hear things are not going well. I wonder if the Mods here would not mind having this posted in Jungle Noise to get more attention and help a fellow Bengals fan out?

Just one of the reasons I quit owning pets...medical is out of this world expensive. They run away, get hit by cars, eat poisoned food, and they don't live as long as us and quite often stink up the place as they age.
I got really tired of saying goodbye to loyal and trusted friends every decade or so..
After our cat dies it'll be the last one.
Good luck with this..

Yeah I don’t think I’ll be owning another dog for a long time if ever. I might get another cat though. They’re just enough of bastards to dull the pain of them dying. This is my first pet that was mine. Held him when he was just born and couldn’t open his eyes and I had to have him.
He’s actually gone way down hill. His specialist visit is tomorrow but I honestly think he’s too far gone at this point. I’m worried he won’t even make it through tonight.

I got your GoFundme update. I'm so very sorry you had to put Runt to sleep. This must have been very hard for you and I wish you comfort during these sad times. I'm sure Runt knew you did everything you could. My sincerest condolences for your loss.

Yeah I appreciate all the support. His bills were exactly what we ended up raising. The tests alone would have been thousands of dollars, but it looks like he was too far gone already anyways, better to just let him go.
I dug him a giant grave in what used to be the garden area of the house and packed it in good. Put a plank over it for now. I’m going to be on the lookout for some nice rocks and build him a memorial cairn.
Held that dog the day he was born before he could even open his eyes and immediately fell in love with the tiny white one. Laid his head down and watched the life leave him on his final day here on Earth. 11.5 years or so isn’t too bad of a run for a dog. I was hoping for just a few more.

I had my dog for 15 years when she passed away. Its good to take some time to heal but dont let the this loss stop you from enjoying the love of another dog. There are many out there who need a home. After about 3 months after my dog passed we went to the shelter and my wife fell in love with a dog there. And she (new dog) has been amazing. Just give it a some time.

Yeah I had a very special connection with this dog that I do not believe I will ever have with another one.

Really sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is never easy, and especially when we have a close bond with one. I still remember my first dog and the bond we shared. He was a PITA, but he was my dog and he loved me. His memory still lives on through the stories I now tell my kids about him. I'm sure Runt will live on in the same way and give you a lot of smiles for many years to come.

This I agree with. Without going into too many details I know my dog saved my life. He's just over 8 1/2 years old according to the records from the shelter I adopted him from. At the time they said he was 6 months old and it has been a great 8 years. As a large dog he is considered a senior. So I know I'll have to be prepared to let him go in the next few years.
With that said, I've contemplated getting another dog before I have to say goodbye to my best friend. I decided I would not because my dog and I have such a close bond and I think he likes being the center of attention. :) But I have this feeling that once he is gone he would want me to save another dog from a shelter like I did for him. It certainly won't happen soon after his passing but I can't think of a better way to honor my dog than to save another from the shelter and give it a great home.
But it's a personal choice. Loosing a dog is heartbreaking.

yup. my guy has been gone 4 years now and I think about him everyday too. A professional photographer asked if he could take some pictures of him as I was throwing a frisbee to him in a snowy park a few years before he died. Got some great pics from that guy, one of which I had blown way up printed and framed. Luckily it has great composition and looks more like an expensive piece of art than a memorial to a best friend, or I don't know if the other half would allow it.
Anyway, we're all lucky to have had such loyal friendships be a part of our lives and once the time comes, I'm sure you'll find a new buddy who will do the same. Not a replacement, but another journey to go down with a another friend.
Feel fro you CBFG, but know Runt loved ya because you were as good to him and he was to you. And that is about as awesome as it gets in this world.
