Why McPherson may never have another season like this.
#1
He may never have this many chances to hit big kicks in one season.

The chances are he will probably improve as a kicker.  And the Bengals will win more games.  But it will be rare for a kicker to get this many big chances in big games in one season.

GAME WINNING KICKS
Min...Overtime from 53 yds
Jax...last play of regulation
KC....last play of regulation against Division Champion to clinch playoff spot
TN....last play of regulation from 52 yds Divisional playoff game
KC....Overtime Conference Championship Game.

Also hit from 52 yards with 6 minutes left in Conference Championship game to give Bengals first lead of the game.  And in the regular season game against the Raiders he hit from 51 yards in the 4th quarter when we were just up by 7 points (13-6)

And even though there is not as much pressure in the 2nd quarter McPherson hit 8 FGs in the final 2 minutes of the first half this year including
--Last play of first half when we were only ahead 7-0 against the Lions
--Last play of first half breaking 10-10 tie with Ravens
--Last play of first half from 58 yards breaking 3-3 tie with Broncos
--A 54 yarder breaking a 6-6 tie with the Titans in the Divisional playoff game.

So that is 5 game winners, 2 other clutch 4th quarter kicks against top opponents in close games, and 4 big FGs in the final 2 minutes of the first half in close games. And over half of these 11 big kicks (6) were from 50 plus yards

Of course he missed a game winner in overtime against the NFC's #1 seed in the playoffs, but there had to be something weird going on with the wind that day for there to be so many missed kicks.

he can always mention his loss to GB to humble himself a bit... kicker vs kicker.

Because he'll look back and laugh at a mere 9 FGs of 50+ when he has a rookie, when he's banging them in at will every game in the future with 95-100% accuracy?

Exactly what I was going to say.
