Rape cases are very complicated. It is not unusual for the victim to wait a while before going to authorities. Even if you are the victim some people just can't handle having such personal information shared with so many people. And even the people on her side have to push for as many details as possible to the point where the accuser interrogated like the accused.
Most women who have been raped will tell someone when it happens or soon there after. It is usually a close friend or family member who has to promise not to tell anyone else. The problem is that later when the only supporting witness is a sister or best friend it can appear biased or fabricated.
With date rape there are usually multiple small details you have to sift through to try and discover the truth. It is hard to tell anything from just the bare bones account in these articles.
Just remember what a horrible sexual predator Frostee Rucker was supposed to be. All he ended up being was a model citizen and teammate.

I hope we are trying to trade him and that is why the coaches won't comment on this. Even a 7th rounder would be fine. At least it would mean he won't start for us.

I will say to all who keep saying she waited 2 years just got the money. Many women have a hard time coming forward after a rape. It's embarrassing and shameful to them at the time and they are often even worried about people accusing them of lying etc. Waiting does NOT make her the bad guy or mean that it didn't happen.
But I agree with pally here. Don't know what to think of this at the moment
Women have been taught since the dawn of time that rape is not taken seriously. It is not embarassment or shame that keeps a woman from reporting...it is fear.
Fear they won't be believed (huge huge huge factor)
Fear that somehow it will be her fault because of her behavior or the way she dressed
Fear that she will be treated like the perpetrator not the victim
Fear her entire life will be on display
Winning makes believers of us all

And with a situation like this you’re dealing with a young girl accusing a star football player at a school like Clemson. It’s not surprising in the least that she would have been afraid to come forward right away.

It may be painful to push through but the more time you wait, the more credibility you lose. 2 years and right before the draft is not a good look. There is a lot of nuance in these cases with such little evidence but you owe it to future assault victims to report these crimes in a timely manner regardless of how emotionally painful it may be for you. If we aren't careful, we'll go from "believe all women" to "all women are lying" with no middle ground in these situations unfortunately.

You're right. But plenty of people are using a rape allegation to show everyone how amazingly right they were about hating the Carman pick.

At this point you cut the kid and bring Spain back in. I think there are some serious issues with the allegation but given his other issues the team doesn't need this noise.

I get what you're saying, but if you want change then you have to be the change. It may seem incredibly unfair to be put in that situation at such a young age, however this problem will persist if it is not handled in a timely manner and credibility is lost. If this young lady is telling the truth, then she needs to push through the pain of what she went through to spare another young girl of going through the same situation down the road by going to authorities much sooner than she did.

Even if we are thinking about bringing Spain back, you think this changes our big board heading into tonight? I feel like Jergens or another IOL is looking more likely now.

Easier said than done when you are already not in a position of power like a 15 year black girl in South Carolina. And it is even easier to say when you are not in the victim's situation. Even now women have to jump through hoops to show they were raped especially if they weren't left bleeding, battered and bruised.

If no other big news media pick this up, Carman isn’t going anywhere. Anyone can make an allegation and if there are no charges being filed after this long, there won’t be unless new evidence comes up. Those thinking he’s going to be released might as well forget that unless new information comes up.

All of which is true. None of which changes the fact that people shouldn't be punished for crimes that cannot be proven.
Yeah, it sucks for the real victims that rape is tough to prove in a "he said/she said" situation. But false rape accusations are a real thing and nobody should be going to jail just because someone says so.

I would hope they go BPA no matter what but you never know. To me Cam Jurgens is a very solid choice at 63 no matter who is left on the board.

Right, well I'm not saying you have to rush to the police station right away but just seems extremely suspect when you come forward around the draft two years after the alleged incident occurred. Your argument is more understandable to me if she did it right after the season and it no longer affects the team's national championship run so she feels safer. Coming out around draft time still tarnishes the schools legacy though, so why wait those 4 months?

Then why not make Adam Anderson a priority in the later rounds because I can assure you that if he plays for Georgia last season then Travon Walker isn't the first pick.
I stand on that statement!
Bring Anderson in 7th round because ya did it in the 2nd so why not!!

I agree, he's a need and BPA so perfect marriage. I'd be rooting for Winfrey here but think he'll be gone.
