"Chase initially suffered the injury when his right leg jammed into the turf [that would be at the Saints stadium] and forced a hip subluxation – quickly and partially dislocated and returned to the joint – on a tackle in the end zone by Paulson Adebo. "
Although this sentence was not comforting: "The injury mechanism is similar in nature to that of Bo Jackson and Ryan Fitzpatrick," but then it adds "who suffered much more significant damage and underwent career-changing surgeries. "
I guess by "turf," it is referring to the artificial turf at the Saints stadium, the kind that coaches are railing against as causing injuries. He did go on to play against the Falcons, but apparently still had hip discomfort at that time.
Bo severed an artery that fed the hip, causing necrosis in the joint, best I remember.

I don't think either of you get it; not that you're intentionally being negative and the like, but I think you both are discounting that the second opinion thing could most-likely be for how quickly he can return (ie: less than 4-6 weeks), as opposed to finding a doctor that will tell him his season isn't over.
If it was season-ending, the reports would flat-out be that it was season-ending and is seeking a second opinion (like with Breece Hall, Rashad Penny, etc.). Instead, it is saying that it's 4-6 weeks and seeing another specialist for confirmation.

And if said random person on Reddit claimed it wasn’t that severe and Chase would be back in a few weeks at most you doom and gloomers would automatically discredit it.

I'm hoping the NFLPA will negotiate the field turf away and make every team go back to playing on natural grass. The number of non-contact injuries caused by the turf is pretty big so far this year. Teams that play in domes with non-retractable roofs will just have to suck it up and install grow lights.

This sucks, but if Burrow is as good as we think he is, then we should still be ok, but definitely not as explosive as we could be. We need to think about the long term for Chase in terms of this injury, they don't want to rush him back. If that means ending his season so be it. I would rather that than him come back 4-6 weeks from now and injuring it further.
Gotta have faith in Burrow and co.

You really think that? As of 3 pm yesterday it was soreness and day to day. This staff isn't going to disclose anything. And our beat guys have zero clue what is actually happening.

He broke the news. Why would we discredit it after learning he was spot on?
Yall upset with this "random" ok. I get it. We are all upset with the Chase news. But still taking shots at this poster as a "rando" even though he broke the news originally and hours before your "credible sources" seems like misdirected frustration.

Truth is this "rando" is very credible to those who followed him. His quick post and delete blew up all social media platforms all morning so people knew when he spoke to listen, and that is why his quick post went viral.

Cooper Kupp spoke on the issue yesterday and was rather emphatic that stadiums need to go to natural grass:
'When asked whether he has a preference for playing on a turf field compared to a natural grass field, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp didn't hesitate.
"It's not even close," Kupp said Thursday. "I know there's stuff going around the league right now, there's some issues. Hands down, we should be playing on grass. Hands down, we should be on grass. And that's all I'm going to say." '
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34892255/rams-wr-cooper-kupp-all-nfl-games-played-grass
JC Tretter with the NFLPA said: "Specifically, players have a 28% higher rate of non-contact lower extremity injuries when playing on artificial turf. Of those non-contact injuries, players have a 32% higher rate of non-contact knee injuries on turf and a staggering 69% higher rate of non-contact foot/ankle injuries on turf compared to grass."

Most likely the Saints turf was a main or at least contributing factor in Chase being injured.

I’m only referring to the person as random because I have no idea who they are. And the people you keep putting quotes around are actually credentialed members of the media. Not saying the anonymous person didn’t break the news first, but that doesn’t mean they know any more than everyone else at this point.
This is a wait and see situation. If he was truly out for the rest of the season it would have been picked up by someone else by now. There’s no reason to assume he won’t be back in December.

Why would they share any timeline about how long he's going to be out, when they don't have all the facts at this time?

It's hard to say with injuries. When Wilson got hurt, early reports were that we would be lucky to get him back before the playoffs.

I've never mentioned anything about a strawman...
I know personal info was leaked. You were dismissing that anything would be done about it.

No, no... just no.
Natural grass can be just as bad, especially when it can essentially be destroyed by just ONE game in pouring rain.
It's 2022... we should be able to just create better artificial turf.

i am dismissing it because I live in the real world. An innocuous post on.a REDDIT board is not that important. It could be linked to anyone. It could be totally made up. This world is full of "journalists" who act on sources that don't exist. Not every story- let alone rumor- is dignified with an "internal investigation". The world does not have the resources for such nonsense. We'd be chasing our collective tail 24/7... and to what end?!
I'm sorry if this crushes your dreams. But life extends beyond the boundaries of the cesspool we've created online.

I guess Ja'Marr should've pulled a Mile Vick/Ron Mexico when seeing the Drs. to help conceal his identity. Perhaps Don Brazil.
