The Chiefs got easy yards with short passes. We didn't.

You admit that the Chiefs got easy yards but somehow conclude that it's the offense's fault.

This is an interesting thought process because back in '15 we had the lead and the ball and the offense crapped the bed and fumbled the ball.  But people most often blame the defense for that loss because they gave up a yards and stupid penalties after that.

Quarterbacks intentionally ground all the time.  The question is whether the rules that make it allowable were equally observed.  Both behind the line (which really isn't relevant in this case). Same distance from the receiver.

Original tweet that broke it down deleted. NFL cleaning the timeline.  Here's a response to the NFL tweet that shows the same thing.

The Chiefs threw 2 yard passes that gained 16 yards.

The Bengals grounded the ball.

For some reason, our defense never adjusted to the fact they were throwing short passes.

The Bengals actually overcame the grounding call and stalled later in the drive after another sack.  The issue with the grounding call is that it wasn't called the same for the Chiefs.  They should have had 3rd and 14 after a grounding call, not 3rd and 4, which would have left Mahomes short of the first down and out of field goal range on the next play.

Why should that be done, other than to kill clock. It looks stupid.

They did it 2-3 times.
