We can designate him a June 1st cut at anytime and that gives him time to land with another team, the classy way.
I guess maybe from a money stand point. But Collins was bad before he got injured and I don't coming back from a knee injury making him better. Mixon can still carry the load and after losing Perine appears to be our best option. Heading into a draft we have a lot of needs.

Well, we landed a TE in Irv Smith Jr., and added some CB depth in Sydney Jones. Both have been added to the roster. Roster now at 53, though too heavy in some spots (12 OL & 5 S) and light in others (1 QB, 2 TE, 3 RB). Obviously, with more signings & draftees, all those on my 53 won't be there come September. Some will be displaced, be it by a new signee a draftee, or a PS guy. Some might not be physically ready to play (Chido, Collins).
But for cap purposes (top 51), even if we assume Chido/Collins on PUP, we are in displacement territory on the roster, even after taking the Practice Squad types off the board.
I. 53 Man Roster: Signed Players = 53.
A. Offense = 24.

“displacement territory” meaning we’ve run out of room and have an edge and DT visiting? Doesn’t sound promising for Zeke?
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Displacement territory meaning in terms of counting cap space, you not only add the new salary, but are subtracting salary of someone getting bumped off the top 51.
A lot of the guys at the bottom of the roster have a zero dead cap number (all the PS guys save for Brown, Adomitis, Chrisman, Irwin, Ford, Tufele, George, Thomas, B. Wilson). Or one under $100k (Brown, Bailey, Morgan, T. Williams, Adeniji, Gunter, Bachie, Evans, T. Hill). Or even sub $250 k (Tupou, J. Davis, McPherson, Scharping, ADG, Anderson, D. Smith). Those are the guys most likely to go. We aren't saving money by cutting them, it is just a matter of getting beat out by a superior player. And it does not cost us much (or anything) to let them go.
The only small salaried guy with a larger dead cap that I could see getting let go is Carter ($655,875).
Jonah, Mixon, & Collins are in a different category.

I'd kind of like to draft a qb somewhere like round 4 on as a backup.

He is a FA. Even on Spotrac, if you look it has his 2022 base salary as nonexistent, and his cap hit is listed as below league minimum so it is impossible.
https://www.cincyjungle.com/2021/3/16/22334763/brandon-wilson-bengals-free-agents-2021
This says he signed a 2 year deal "through the 2022 season".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandon_Wilson_(American_football)
And even his Wikipedia page says he is a free agent.
https://www.bengals.com/team/free-agent-tracker
Probably most importantly, even Bengals.com has him listed as an unrestricted free agent still.
I think there was just an entry error on Spotrac when someone was inputting his information and it kicked some of the things they were typing down into the next row.

He is on a PS/developmental contract ($750k) and has never made the 53. If he wins QB2 in camp, I'll move him. But not before that. Or before a new deal that signals a change in status. QB2 is open as far as I am concerned. YMMV, of course. But we are sure bringing in/looking at a lot of QBs.
Speaking of changes in status, Spotrac has joined OTC & ithers in listing B. Wilson as a FA. I missed that, whenever it happened (last year or this). It does free up $2 mil in cap space. I will move him accordingly.
Gotta finish my taxes first, though.
Thanks for the updates on Wilson, TLL.

Updated with Brandon Wilson properly listed as a FA. I am a little slow sometimes. Thanks to TLL & pally for the updates/comments. Not buying Browning as QB2 yet. Though Brown should probably be down with the PS guys, too. I go back & forth on him. Thought he had a real shot to make the team last year before the injury. YMMV, of course.

I am not a fan of cutting either guy at the moment. Late season OL injuries have hurt us the last 2 years. I want as much depth as I can get there. Plus, Collins is signed thru 2024. If he only had one more year, then yes. He was our best rum blocker even as stiff as he was. Not cutting NFL level guys unless I think I have superior guys to replace them with. I do not think Ford or Smith or Adeniji qualify.
As for Mixon, with Perine gone, I am far lessinclined to let Joe go. Even if we draft a rookie, if it ain't Bijan, Mixon stays until/unless I absolutely NEED that $$ for someone else.

Not buying Browning as QB2 yet. Though Brown should probably be down with the PS guys, too. I go back & forth on him. Thought he had a real shot to make the team last year before the injury. YMMV, of course.
I. 53 Man Roster: Signed Players = 56.
A. Offense = 26.
1. QB (1): Burrow
2. RB (3): Mixon; T. Williams (KR1), Evans (KR2)
3. WR (6): Chase, Higgins, Boyd; Irwin, Morgan, Taylor (PR)
4. TE (3): I. Smith, Jr., D. Sample, Asiasi
5. OT (7): Brown, J. Williams; Collins (I), Carman, Ford, Adeniji, D. Smith.
6. OG (3): Cappa, Volson; Scharping
7. C (3): Karras, T. Hill, Brown.
B. Defense = 26.
1. DE (6): Hendrickson, Hubbard; Ossai, C. Sample, Basham, Gunter
2. NT/DT (5): Reader, BJ Hill; Tupou, Carter, Tufele
3. LB (5): L. Wilson, Pratt; ASG, Bailey, Bachie
4. CB (6): Awuzie (I), CTB, Hilton; Jones, George, J. Davis
5. S (4): D. Hill, Scott; Anderson, Thomas
C. Special Teams = 3.
1. PK (1). McPherson.
2. P (1): Chrisman
3. LS (1): Adomitis
II. Practice Squad Players = 12.
1. Jake Browning, QB
2. Kwamie Lassiter, WR
3. Tanner Hudson, TE
4. Nick Bowers, TE
5. Devin Cochran, OT
6. Nate Gilliam, G
7. Raymond Johnson III, DE
8. Owen Carney, DE
9. Dominique Davis, DT
10. Keandre Jones, LB
11. Marvell Tell, CB
12. Yusuf Corker, S
If the season started today, here would be my 53 before moving people to IR:
QB (2) - Burrow, Browning
RB (3) - Mixon, Williams, Evans
TE (3) - Smith, Sample, Asiasi
WR (6) - Chase, Higgins, Boyd, Irwin, Morgan, Taylor
OT (5) - Brown, Williams, Carman, Ford, Collins (IR/PUP)
OG (3) - Cappa, Volson, Scharping
OC (2) - Karras, Hill
DE (5) - Hendrickson, Hubbard, Ossai, Sample, Basham
DT (5) - Hill, Reader, Carter, Tupou, Tufele
LB (5) - Wilson, Pratt, ADG, Bailey, Bachie
SAF (4) - Hill, Scott, Thomas, Anderson
CB (6) - Awuzie, CTB, Hilton, Jones, Davis, George
K (1) - McPherson
P (1) - Chrisman
LS (1) - Adomitis
Guys in bold are ones I think that could get bumped out by a draft pick.
Collins I think starts on IR/PUP and the Bengals roll with 4 OTs to start the season. Once he's healthy, they'll have to figure out whether to cut him or someone else to make room.
If Jonah is traded, that can open up a spot.
I don't think both Tupou and Tufele would be gone unless the Bengals wanted to keep a 6th DE (Gunter) while only rolling with 4 DTs and getting a DT in the draft.
I doubt both Davis and George make the roster. I would expect a draft pick to get one of those CB spots, or Apple re-signed after draft to bump one of them off.
A RB will be added for sure to replace Perine. Very likely in the draft. I think they'll roll with 9 OL to compensate for the 4th RB.
Mixon getting released will mean a 2nd RB spot available.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

Good post. I think I agree with nearly everything you said. One nit is that you only have 52 guys on your roster, even counting Collins. 24 on offense. We do not HAVE a 4th RB to put in there, at present, of course. But you do not have to go light on O-line to do it. I'd expect another OL to make the 53 once Collins gets PUPed (Adeniji, Smith, draft pick).
I'd put the following guys in bold: Evans, D. Sample, Morgan, Irwin, Ford, T. Hill, Basham, Bachie, Thomas, Jones. Though we'd have to double dip for some guys to get cut. And I think other guys are relatively safe (Jones, Bachie, Irwin).

Thought I'd take a shot at the roster after Day 2. These are signed players only.

6. OG (3): Cappa, Volson; Scharping
7. C (3): Karras, T. Hill, Brown.

CB (6): Awuzie, Taylor-Britt, Hilton; Turner, Jones, J. Davis (slot2)
S (4): Scott, D. Hill; Battle, Anderson

Signed guys on outside looking in = 7.
1. Adeniji, OT
2. Smith, OT
3. B. Brown, C
4. Basham, DE
5. Gunter, DE
6. George, CB
7. Thomas, S
Collins likely starts the year on IR/PUP, so that would open up an OT spot for Adeniji/Smith. With the new PS rules, some vets can stick there (Thomas, Basham).
