Just when you thought Weaver was going to get through the 1st untouched.

It's not a demotion. I would argue it's worse to put a guy into a position where he's clearly not meant to be and leaving him there to just flounder. Give Fraley or Steer a chance.

Funny thing is India has actually been good when there's nobody on base, hitting .270/.366/.456 even with the slump. Just isn't a #2-#5 hitter.

I think the current popular theory is your #2 hitter should be your best hitter as it gives your #1 hitter (should be your best OBP guy) the chance to move into scoring position
or score on an xbh, or if the #1 fails to get on but the #2 still does it gives you enough outs that your #3 hitter (2nd best) and #4 hitter (power) have an AB with a player on. Also the #2 hitter gets more PA than the #3 over time.

Oh I agree it's not really a demotion, but. In the same breath it is kind of a loss in status. Everybody knows there's a reason you're moved from 3rd to 7th or whatever? But on the flip side if he is a true leader at some point he should step up and say coach slide me down until I get this fixed.

I'm a big India fan BTW. But I'm way more of Reds fan and I'm more out for what's best for the team. And a guy batting .158 batting 3rd ain't getting it done.

Yep

Let's hope it's out of his system.

The announcers and everybody are talking about how aggressive the Reds are playing on the basepaths and how much it's helping, and I agree.

But to me they're a bit to passive in the batter's box. The whole team basically seem to take to many strikes right down the middle. I dunno, maybe it's just me ?

Here we go with the strike zone again. That first pitch to Tapia that caught the bottom of the zone was a strike to Steer but a ball here.

Benson homers which sets a franchise record for the team hitting a homer in 22 straight games.

Pitch chart says the only called strike against Steer was at least 6" above the pitch to Tapia. The ball to Tapia should have been a strike, but they weren't really close to each other at all.

Weaver better get those borderline calls too. That strike 3 call to McLain was brutal.

Cycle watch for Benson. Got the 2 hard ones out of the way (Homer and triple).

Weaver has the physical tools . . . Mentally? He's got a cat fight going on inside his head. He panics and pitches afraid. The high inside fastball to Miller was about two innings overdue, ESPECIALLY to Adames. Quit pitching like a *****.

How in the world are we watching the 15th start of a 7 ERA pitcher? I don't think I have ever seen anyone get this much of a leash.

Home plate ump must have something against McLain. That first pitch wasn't close to a strike.
