How appreciative he was towards the Bengals by letting him workout on his own and miss some of meetings to help out his wife with their newborn. Then he talked about his faith and God... I found my faith again after retiring from the service making his latest statement not sit well with me. Loved that interview and confirmed why he was one of my favorite players and men on my team. He did a 180 here. Hope he makes up for it if we do extend him, but this was dumb how this was handled. (05-03-2024, 12:22 AM)The D.O.Z. Maybe he DOES deserve more money, he IS our pass rush afterall, and these elite pass rushers are getting paid ridiculous amounts. Had he not signed that recent extension last year, I wouldn't fault him at all. But he did, and he should stick to his word and honor it. All true, I bet he plays his ass off. He always does, this won't change that. The only way he falls off is because of injury or age. (05-03-2024, 12:46 AM)007BengalsFan Wrote: Hendrickson gives 100% effort on every play. I like having him on the team even though he is horrible against the run. My biggest issue is he hasnt even finished his 1st contract he signed with the Bengals yet is already trying to force a 3rd contract. Its crazy to me. Same. No reason for this after already signing an extension, that is the problem here. We will see how this goes forward.

I feel like they'll make a handshake deal to give him a respectable bump when he's eligible. It' was a silly idea to make this public when he and his agent did. He def outplayed his contract., but he also signed it after an 8 sack season, a continuation of which would not have warranted a pay raise. He went for security instead of betting on himself. Understandable, but also impactful on his earnings. Players betting on themselves is always risky. Bird in the hand and all. Trey is an essential part of the team, but that doesn't change the negotiation unless the team wants it to.

I understand wanting a longer contract, but don't understand signing the short one in the first place if that wasn't what he wanted. It was very fair at the time. If Trey wouldn't of signed the contract and continued to have the season that he had (17.5 Sacks) he would of been in a great position with something to say. I also think they have a handshake deal in place and when the time comes, he will be extended. Just dumb by the agent and Trey letting it go public.

I don't blame players when they go after big contracts, but I really think this is a head scratcher when he just signed a contract. It kind of makes me think he just wants out. It would be interesting what he has to say in the future. I'm sure a lot of the details will eventually leak like what happened with Whit.

He doesn’t want out. He just realized that he signed a bad deal well under market value, and wants something closer to what other high end pass rushers have been getting this offseason (Josh Allen, Brian Burns, Danielle Hunter, etc). Who he should really be mad at is his agent, not the team.

So, it's not like they were opposed to extending Trey again or refusing to talk about it...which makes Lewis' going public demanding a trade such a weird move, especially coming after an extension 9 months earlier. Just a poorly played hand that wasn't needed and looked very silly from an optics standpoint.

He should just man up ball out and go big on the next contract.

It’s his agent’s job to get him the best deal, and advise him on contracts. He should be in the market for a new one.

Weird set of events. Crazy his agent didn’t know he couldn’t get a pay increase this early after signing so recently. Or he genuinely wanted out. Seems to be a play for more dollars though. Odd way to put it out when they did.

And him not anticipating the market for pass rushers and the cap going up is on him. I’d be pissed too if I was Trey. What I wouldn’t have done was allowed him to go public with the trade request. Especially when the team said they were open to renegotiating.

He was second in sacks last year, he overperformed his contract and his agent underperformed. |
