Pass rushers in AFCN

It doesn’t hurt for Watt to have Cam Heyward on the DL to help to the offensive line occupied

It isn't just sacks. Hurries and the amount of time you have in the pocket greatly impacts what sort of plays you can call. I know everyone knows this but it is the part of this year I'm most excited for.

Double moves

Deep ins

Deep corners

But even with the new routes you can call with more time we can’t forget the ability for Joe to actually complete his progressions without pressure

Plays like the Chiefs escape and the 49ers escape are cool to see but he could make those same throws behind a clean pocket

I’m also very excited for the offense specifically

I think if the offense is a beast it can offset a struggling defense

I just found this from PFF bengals from 4 months ago, when we signed him.

Zack Moss in 2023:

4.3 YPC
793 rushing yards
64.8% of total yards after contact
36 missed tackles forced
65.5 pass-blocking grade (11th among RBs)

So not the best, but significant improvement from Mixon (from a pass blocking perspective). I still think RB is overall a meh position group room. but if we can average 4+ YPC, be less predictable on offense and help protect Joe burrow, I don’t know how that isn’t a holistic upgrade.

I was also listening to a fantasy podcast earlier this week. Don’t be surprised if Mixon has his best season ever. He is going to a team with an objectively better OL that runs more zone running, which fits him better.

It’s crazy how sometimes teams try and force a square peg into a round hole. It really comes down to talent and scheme fit, especially at that position.

Mixon had a pass blocking grade of 29.7 for the 2023 season.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

A solid run game will put the brakes on the pass rush quick.

I liked Corum even if Michigan RB's have not done well in the NFL lately. There were others I liked as well in the 4th, Estime etc.

Like you said a solid run game can really limit a Defenses pass rush. Hope Moss and Brown can do well this year, but I wanted another
physical RB and there were lots to be had in the 4th round. My only critique of the Draft really. Hope Erick All does well though.

This is the reason Moss fits here so much better than Mixon regardless of talent.

Zack Moss' pass pro was mentioned by a Giants scout on the new Hard Knocks Off-Season.

Hence the significant improvement comment.

Also top ranked RB in the NFL running from shotgun and one of the best at getting extra yards (after contact). By contrast Mixon was one of the worst at that the past couple of seasons. Moss is a totally different type of RB than Mixon and IMHO a far better scheme fit for us.

I think Mixon being gone has made ppl forget how bad he was as a pass protector

We had to play T. Williams on 3rd down because Mixon was so bad

Zac Moss by himself with no Mims/T. Brown addition is gonna help our offense tons

Yeah, Mixon was bad at pass pro and even shown lack of effort at times in protection. This was inexcusable honestly.

We won't be seeing this with Zack Moss.
