Daily observations from camp
Patriots coach Jarod Mayo, prior to this weeks joint practice with the Cowboys, laid out the punishments for fighting during the practice

If they were caught fighting
1) Veterans would have to play the entire game,
2) Non-starters wouldn't play in the game at all.

Ir is not about wins and losses during pre-season at all

Every year, man. Every year there's always a few people who overreact to preseason games. Even though everyone BEFORE the game is like, "preseason games don't matter; no injuries are all I care about" but then AFTER the game are like "[insert player here] is better than or should be starting over or should be the primary back over [insert other player here]" or "[insert player here] is assberries"

Every year. I believe it was George Washington who said, "The only things that are inevitable in life are death, taxes, and fans overreacting to preseason NFL games". Ninja

Uhh, no. People "rag" on Carman because, outside of a few plays here and there, he's largely sucked. It wouldn't matter if he s undrafted, people would still rag on him because he's just not good.

So the Bengals suddenly have a "red alert" situation at RT. They might should consider seeking possible trade candidate at T for one of our surplus WR prospects.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I am not sure anyone will give up a good OT, they are too high in demand. It appears Carman just made the roster. I said cut him after the game last week, I am glad we did not as at least we have a vet who has started some games albeit only Buffalo game was a good effort and result.

Carman?  When has he ever showed an ounce of potential to shift over to RT? I would think that Cody Ford or even Jaxson Kirkland would get the nod over Carman.

The Lions have drafted and developed OL pretty well the past few years, and they are desperate for a 3rd WR. Perhaps the Bengals could propose Pryor or Lassiter for one of their T prospects?

We can't go with three RB's because Williams is basically a ST's guy.  Not to mention the terrible outing by Brown against Tampa that really makes you wonder if he should be getting significant touches or not.  But, the team needed to be looking at trades/waivers for another RB regardless of Evans's injury.

Mostly because of Mixon and Perine/Brown in front of him.
The 3rd RB on the roster is almost always relegated to ST barring injury, as most teams don't split touches between 3 RBs normally.

Out of Williams and Evans, here have been the offensive and ST snaps the past 2 years:
Evans 2022 (12 games):
O snaps - 18
ST snaps - 155

Evans 2023 (8 games):
O snaps - 24
ST snaps - 122

Williams 2022 (8 games):
O snaps - 36
ST snaps - 127

Williams 2023 (17 games):
O snaps - 156
ST snaps - 294

So if the Bengals went with 3 RBs, the 3rd RB I think would have increased snaps both on offense and ST since there wouldn't be a 4th taking some away.
Evans was firmly the RB4 the past 2 years.
I just don't find much of a need to carry a 4th RB all the time on the roster, especially if there's potentially an extra TE or WR that may not be worth risking getting snatched off the PS.
So many depth-level RBs are available throughout the season if the Bengals ever need to add anyone to fill in for an injury.
With that said, if McLachlan isn't showing enough potential to keep on the roster over a 4th RB, by all means add the 4th RB.

Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins

I think they like Kirkland.  But I like the idea of trading for a surplus lineman with Detroit.

Any player or coach on the team that doesn't want to win every game should be on some other team.

You're stuck in a bygone era. I was the same way with everything down to monopoly the board game. I learned to let sh!t go.

You must be OSU fan, they tend to root for Michigan season ending injuries.  That is joke but in bad taste that we just don't need to type even if we think it.

Well, Chase Brown has largely sucked, aside from a couple of splash plays, and is pretty much unanimously lauded around here.

I've rooted for season ending injuries to Steeler players only, and only because of their dirty plays for years. You know Carson, Rivers, Huber. That's why I loved Burfict, he bullied the bully. WTS I still feel guilty even thinking about it.

I don't disagree. My concern is no team is going to give up a good RT with potential. My guess is we may be stuck with our current roster and hope Brown and Mims get healthy quickly.

Personally, I thought Evans was done as a RB, just seemed too slow for a small RB.

Looking at our RB room, I would love for us to sign Kareem Hunt to replace Evans. He is a bruiser and knows how to get short yardage and into the endzone and also a very good receiver.

The RB3 won't have increased ST's snaps because the RB3 and RB4 were on the field at the same time most of the time.  For example, Williams was the Up man on Evans returns.  He can't play two positions.

If McLachlan is showing potential and is too good to ship to the PS, then you cut Hudson and try to get him to the PS(where he's spent most of his career).  You don't go short at a position where guys get banged up and winded all the time.  Guys on the street don't get you through a game when two of your backs got hurt and the last man standing is dying of exhaustion.  Then people whine about why we threw it on 3rd and 1 instead of just handing it off.  And it's especially bad for an 11 base team to keep 5 TE's

Lassiter and Pryor are 26 YO undrafted free agent from 2022. they each have 1 catch for 2 and 11 yards, respectively. How much do you think any team is going to give up in compensation, player or pick, when they likely have 5+ guys as good/or with similar upside on their offseason roster. No one is rolling into the year with Lassiter or Pryor as their WR3.

It is more likely that they are both out of the league, this year, than anyone trades for just 1. They have almost no value to an NFL organization as an offensive contributing on field Wide Receiver.

I wouldn't say that quite yet. Mims' pec injury does not seem to be that big of a deal, and T Brown simply had tightness in his back. He can stretch that out. We still have Ford, so we still have 1,2 and 3 tackles on track to be good by game 1.

Just saw Chris Evans tore his patella tendon or something like that and is out for the season. Have to bring in a RB now.

I think most of us wanted to cut Evans anyways, but sad for the guy. Not like that.
