Kris injured his hand in practice and will have surgery on his thumb. He will miss this week. Day to day after that

Damn. That means it's back to Zach Carter and Jay Tufele as the reserves.

Saw this in the other thread. This sucks. I have no faith in Zach Carter at all. Tufele was also bad last year, we have no depth behind
Rankins and BJ Hill right now it seems. Happy Kris Jenkins could play against the Chiefs so as long as we can pull out a win I will be
happy this Sunday now.

Still not worried, as Jenkins would've been rotated in for maybe 1/3 of the snaps.
If he was going to see the load that BJ or Rankins will have and we were counting on him, then that changes things, but this isn't too big a deal, IMO.
Rogers going to get activated, I'm sure.

Jenkins was likely going to be inactive anyway.

Anyone have any idea what kind of thumb injury this could be? Kind of crazy he could be back in only a week.

He wasn't going to be inactive he's the first DL off the bench.

Yeah, what the hell. Carter played next to Jenkins all Preseason and looked way worse. I do like Rogers being activated as he can stop the run.
But man, Carter needs to step up some time and show that he was worth a mid round pick. He has looked worse than an UDFA so far and he
was supposed to work into being a 3-tech and be able to rush the passer since he was an Edge at Florida. Seen no pass rush from him.

This has not been a great start for the Day 1/2 rookies.
Mims hurt
Jenkins surgery
Jackson hurt
Burton looking to lose the WR3 battle to Iosivas
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Well it seems like the usual Bengals season startup where we have a position group get killed by injuries. This season so far it seems to be defensive line (Murphy, Sample, Jenkins, Jackson). The weirdest part is this time we did not have a bunch of glass players here - yet here we go again. Also when you add in Mims injury we are at 3 of our first 4 picks are injured from this year's draft. Here we go again...

a bit of overreaction, Mims back to practice, Jenkins minor injury , Jackson will miss some time yes.. as for Burton... Irvin is a veteran solid connection with Burrow, he was going to be very hard to unseat as #3..., but Iosivas has really stepped up since last year that is not a knock on Burton, more of a praise on improvement over a year with Iosivas plus Burton had a solid preseason. Way too early to judge the 2024 class

I'll trade any position group being injured for Burrow being healthy. Earn that $55M.

I'm not saying they are all going to be bad.
I'm just pointing out the facts up to this point.
I think your post is a bit of an overreaction to my post
Seriously though, while I don't think any of these are long-term setbacks, they have impacted how far along these rookies are going into Week 1.
Had Mims not gotten hurt, he might have taken the starting RT spot. That would have been huge (for him at least).
Jenkins wouldn't have taken starting NT but it would have been better if he could be out there Week 1 in the rotation. I like him against the run. Patriots are going to try to run a good amount with Stevenson while they bring along their rookie QB.
Jackson could have also possibly showed to be a good NT, but we haven't really seen him yet because of his injury. If anyone's truly been delayed in their development, it's Jackson.
I agree with you that Iosivas getting the WR3 spot definitely has some (a lot?) to do with his growth from last season. We knew he had elite traits coming out of Princeton, but it was Ivy League football conference. Still though, I think some were hoping/expecting Burton to take that spot regardless of how much Iosivas has grown.
My overall point was that we likely aren't going to see much, if any, impact from these rookies in this first game due to all the injuries and being lower on the depth chart.

I agree with Ocho.
That said, assuming Trent Brown stays healthy, Jenkins is the only rookie, outside of that schizophrenic punter, that we truly need an adequate contribution from Week 1.
By mid-season I could see Mims, Jenkins, All, and Burton providing competent snaps.

Lets see if Justin Rogers is really the player I hoped Bengals would draft instead of Jackson.

Yeah, Mims is back and sure he isn't going to start but would most likely play if needed in the regular season. Jenkins might be back for
the Chiefs so no big deal. McKinnley was our only true NT though, so that hurts. Burton should get snaps if Tee doesn't go because of the
hammy even if Iosivas is looking great. Irwin is a swiss army knife, I think we can afford to have Tee sit out and rest up this game.
WR is deep as heck on this team. Chase will play even if he doesn't get the deal according to his own words.

Truth. We are better off than we have been the last couple years going into this season for this very reason.

Essex actually makes a good point about Iosivas being really good has been more about him being good than Burton not being better.
Sounds we might need both if Tee cannot go, just saw he was listed as doubtful.

I liked Rogers, not as much as McKinnley Jackson, but I liked the guy and he also was a run stopper in the SEC.

Obviously. But it still gets ridiculous that it feels like every season we have a position group get wrecked by injury.

So would I but cannot cry over spilt milk. Need to work with what we got and we still don't know if DJ is 100% or will ever be the same.

Wouldn't that be a huge boost....? I like Rogers as well, they both likely need a redshirt season but I like giving Rogers a shot.
