I believe that "well respected" coaches can get jobs.  And we all know that great players dont necessarily make great evaluators or coaches.

So there's a really fun story behind this that goes all the way back to Willie Anderson's time in Cincy.

Willie hurt his hand before the season one year and Paul Alexander and Willie developed a way for him to play using mostly 1 hand. That developed into "Independent Hands". It's a technique used to the advantage of length. Willie and Paul taught it to Andrew Whitworth and these guys should end up in the Hall of Fame. After Willie retired teams asked him to come around and talk to their younger guys about technique but not to teach them any of that wild stuff lol. Paul Alexander continued to teach it to Bengals players through the 2000 teens and they had the best pass blocking line during that period. Paul was fired over fan outrage and scapegoat after Ogbuehi and Fisher went to the Cowboys and was fired because the staff and players didn't want to learn this new pass blocking technique and Paul probably pushed it because it works.



Now we have the OL symposium where there guys get together and talk about different ways they win individually and help other young players understand they are all different and one way might work better than foe them then how they are being taught. Paul has spoken at these symposiums (amazing stuff) and has mentioned he's been offered jobs but is happy in retirement.

Retired?  He was a consultant for a couple of years and then took a job coaching a football team in Germany the last couple of years.

Retired from thr NFL which I would say is alot heavier workload.

Some fans (I guess they are relatively new arrivals only know PA from the Oggie days. They seem to be clueless about some of the O-lines he coached here.

Didn't say at training them - I said evaluating them.  

What has he done with drafting since Willie, Levi and Steinbach over 20 years ago?  We needed an OT bad and he drafts Ogbuehi and Fisher.  He has constantly missed on any O-linemn during his last stretch here.  He's the reason why we had such a terrible O-line and needed to go so heavy into free agency.

The guy can't draft for shit.

He blew it on Oggie. People should just lay off the Fisher crap, he developed heart issues. We will never know how he could have turned out if he was healthy.

He didn't get the heart issues until halfway through his 3rd year and already had 10 penalties and 7 sacks allowed in just 782 career snaps.. and it would have been worse if he hadn't spent time as a HB instead of an OT. He was already a bust as a 2nd round pick at that point.

He wasn't DIAGNOSED until his 3rd season, but I'm sure the problem was setting in and more than likely affected his stamina. Point is, we will never know. 2 years is not enough time to evaluate a player anyway. I have heart issues, so I know about the fatigue
