He really needs to consider just retiring at this point. Luck walked away from the game in his prime, and his situation wasn’t anywhere near as scary as Tua’s. I don’t know how you can sign off on putting him back on a football field.

The one against us was 2 years ago on Thursday night football. We didn’t even play Miami last season.

Said it two years ago, he really needs to consider his long-term health. Maybe the hits vs the Bengals were kind of freak accidents, with his head bouncing off the turf and all, but yesterday was about as routine as you get and he was visibly and scarily concussed.

Tua should retire. If he got a serious concussion from that particular play which looked very mundane, after the ones he has had last few years, then yeah it's not worth risking rest of life over. He can walk away now with hopefully no long term effects and should have well enough money to retire on.

Tua is only 26. He is now rich beyond his wildest dreams. So much life left to live. I hope, for his sake, retirement happens.

Ironically, it was our friend Damar Hamlin who tackled him.
Funny that he walked away from Tua all the way to the back and did not seem to be concerned about Tua.

How ironic is it that this happened by him running into a guy who died on the field less than two years ago? Talk about some eerie stuff.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

It could be since Tua's teammates surrounded him quickly, that he started walking away and thought, Damn, and then had a little flashback.

That's tough and I wish the best for him. As many say he probably needs to explore retiring. He's only 26 years old and has a lot of life ahead of him. But also if he retires there is a lot of money on the line:
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/tua-tagovailoas-contract-how-could-retirement-affect-qbs-deal-salary-cap-expert-forecasts-whats-next/
Quote:"Financially, that's gonna be tough," Corry says. "He got $93.17 million guaranteed at signing. If he's gonna walk away voluntarily, then the 2025 guarantees will void. He's got $50 million guaranteed in 2025. Do you wanna walk away from that? Retirement voids guarantees. Now, the Dolphins could honor the guarantee if they chose to. Most teams don't do that. ... It gets worse: His $42 million signing bonus is at risk. When you retire, the remaining proration of the bonus, or about $33.6 million, can be recouped."
In the end, were Tagovailoa to voluntarily retire, Corry believes the Dolphins would be unlikely to pursue a full return on the remainder of the quarterback's signing bonus. Still, given the anticipated void in guarantees, he estimates Tagovailoa would be walking away from a total of $124 million, barring some kind of drastic settlement negotiated with the team.
"If I'm him, I don't voluntarily retire immediately," Corry says. "I'm gonna buy myself more time. Typically, when it comes to being cleared to return, it's at the discretion of the team doctor. But you could be looking at a grievance situation if there's another opinion. This thing can potentially get messy."
Of course you can't put a dollar amount on having a healthy quality of life. I'd hope if he chooses his health over playing that the Dolphins would do something right by him.

Agree. When he went down and into the fencing position, it was just cringe-worthy. He's already banked more than most could earn in a couple dozen lifetimes. I hope for his sake he calls it quits and gets out while he can still have a good quality of life.

I hate it for him but it sure seems like he should hang his cleats up. Just not worth the risk of his long term health.

If it were just "oh, I am a bit woozy" concussions, I probably wouldn't feel like a guy needed to retire and it should just be his decision.... but this many lights-out-hands-doing-weird-shit concussions feel like a entire different scale of concussion that he really should just hang them up.
He apparently isn't, though..

You're 26, you have $73.5m (I doubt the Dolphins try to get back the signing bonus but even if they do you've still made ~$43m) and have two young kids. Call it a career and enjoy your life with your family.

And if he just can't walk away from the game there are many opportunities in management and coaching, the latter being a great way to keep those competitive fires burning.
