CTB on Jayden Daniels
#1
"They don't make him do a lot, Nice college offense". Cool

I mean, if you're going to talk shit, you might as well go for the jugular. The only reason I can get on board with him talking trash like that is because he can back up his words with his actions on the field. Did anyone happen to see that one handed snatch INT of the Pat Mahommes pass last week?

Quote:CINCINNATI —
The Cincinnati Bengals will face a rookie quarterback Monday night as the team aims for its first win of the 2024 season, hosting the Washington Commanders.

Led by this year's No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft, quarterback Jayden Daniels, Washington enters play at 1-1, while the Bengals are 0-2.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner during his final season at LSU, Daniels has completed 75 percent of his passes with no passing touchdowns or interceptions through two games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Giants.

Daniels has been a threat in the running game, rushing for 132 yards on 26 carries with two touchdowns.

On Thursday, Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt was asked about Daniels and how the Bengals will plan to stop the dynamic rookie.

This content is imported from Twitter. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

"They don't make him do a lot," Taylor-Britt said. "They keep it really simple for him. Nice college offense, (Kliff) Kingsbury, the OC, so they move guys around here and there, but just keep it real simple for him."

Taylor-Britt mentioned Daniels' high completion percentage, but added that he has mainly thrown passes short and into the intermediate area of the field.

"Make sure on the outside that we're winning our one-on-ones, because he can stretch the plays and extend them," Taylor-Britt said.

Last week, pregame comments by Taylor-Britt went viral before the Bengals took on the Kansas City Chiefs. Taylor-Britt was asked how rookie Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has an impact on the KC offense.

"Speed, that's about it," Taylor-Britt said of Worthy, who scored two touchdowns in Kansas City's Week 1 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. "He just run straight, run jet sweeps and just run straight, he can't do too much else."

Taylor-Britt allowed a long touchdown pass to Chiefs wideout Rashee Rice on Sunday but also recorded an impressive interception on a deep shot to Worthy along the sideline.

I have a novel idea. Why don't they shut the hell up for a while and actually win some football games?

That counters Zac's relaxed and player friendly environment. I'm guessing that they'll settle down and get onto business sometime after recess and nappy time.

We are the 24th overall offense.

The QBs whose offenses are worse than ours...
Daniel Jones
Will Levis
Deshaun Watson
Bo Nix
Justin Fields
Jacoby Brissett
Caleb Williams
Bryce Young

We shouldn't be throwing stones while living in a neighborhood of shitty QB houses.

My thoughts as well. I hate that he's talking trash. He is playing great right now, but it's a team game

Exactly, they just don't seem to have the right mindset or mental capacity or ability to understand how things in life can go, many times in the wrong direction. They don't understand what wearing a humble hat means. So he made an intercept last week, big deal, he is paid to do that so lets see if he can do it every game. I wonder if they ever read and learn from old vets like a fellow named Ken Riley who had a few intercepts of his own and was a pretty humble quiet guy as I remember. And did it for many years without all the BS trash talk.

CTB isn't wrong.

Of course this means the Bengals DBs will be tested shedding blocks and making tackles in space to limit yards. Jayden Daniels being a dual threat QB isn't a matchup I'm excited about even if he's a rookie. Between Brissett and Mahomes the Bengals have given up 62 yards and 4 first downs to scrambling QBs.

It may just be his presentation but IDK if I classify this as smack. It seemed almost if he was complimenting the coaching staff.

Yep

It's really hard to talk crap at 0-2 STFU and win some games then it makes sense. It's like the guy who's team is getting beat 38-3 with 7 minutes to go in the game doing the 1st down celebration.

So while I agree talking should be kept to a minimum, 2 things:

1. This isn't smack, he's simply stating the the system is like a college system and Sans even posted on Twitter that the concepts and everything are very simplistic, with Daniels not doing a lot of designed runs or complex routes.

2. The way the reporters are presenting this is ridiculous: listen to the actual interview and even read the transcript: there is no talking shit or anything even remotely antagonistic.

Everyone needs to calk down a bit.

I don't want to hear another word out of him before a game.

Exactly. Maybe some people need to look up his actual quote. He wasn't bad mouthing anyone, he was being complimentary towards a rookie QB and his coaches and speaking plain truth.

Where is anything he said not true?

Why say anything critical of the OC and the opposing QB?  Whether true or not -- I don't know, is it true it is a "college offense" -- why is a not-yet-established-star CB being critical of the opposing OC and QB before a game?

Even the announcers highlighted CTB's dissing of the opponents after he got burned for the second game in the row on long passes (this one a 55-yard, perfectly placed bomb) -- yeah, glad he was focused on short and intermediate passes.

His critical comments about the OC and QB look all the more ridiculous when the Bengals failed to stop Daniels and the offense even one time (save for a kneel down at the end of the half) and Daniels ended up hitting 21 out of 23 passes and a 141.7 QB rating.
