Bengals 9-12 since "Burrowhead" smacktalk
#1
I think that is the clear point we can point at as when we jumped the shark. Our team got too enamored with sniffing their own farts, lost our edge, and lost sight that we have to keep getting better every year or we will get worse. Don't need to get work in the preseason because week 1 and 2 are pointless, we will still make the playoffs and we don't need home playoff games because we can win in the road. As of the playoffs are just automatically granted to you because you think you deserve it.

2 year window of enjoyment and now it is closed because of arrogance.

(Forgive me a bit of a rant thread, I normally don't do this but this loss really kills whatever excitement I had left for this year.)

i'm guessing many of us older fans saw this coming. the window closed for sure last year when glass joe went down. meanwhile as we also see every year. the steelers doing what the steelers do. and history continues to repeat itself. as bengals fans we live in groundhog day perpetually.

When you win, say nothing. When you lose, say less. These players need to keep their damn mouths shut till they can back it up. Holy shit where’s the Tylenol.

How many times are you going to repeat this inaccuracy?

Offense had 325 yards and 25 points.   Defense couldnt get a stop at the end, again, last week.  2 games in a row.  Tonight they couldnt a stop, period.

The offense bashers deserve their own board where they can discuss other topics of which they have no idea.

The offense def needed to be better last week, but it's not the biggest reason why we lost. This week the offense did everything it really needed to do other than have TDs every drive, which you can't really expect that from any offense. The defense this whole year is just soooooo bad. We need to fire the people who thought that this defense was good enough to stop any kind of NFL offense. Hell, I bet the better college offenses could make our defense look bad. Even CTB thought that the Commanders offense was an college offense. I bet he's right, and that's just how bad our defense is. A high school level defense. I'm so frustrated at this team right now. I had such high hopes. The last two years I've had such big hopes for this team and it just comes crashing down.

You are correct, the defense has failed the team. Many don't want to hear this, but how could Tobin and the front office allow the team to enter the season without a viable NT to set the tone in the middle of the field? Winning defense begins with being strong up the middle, and right now the belly of the Bengal defense is jello.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Opposing teams must just roll their eyes these days when the Bengals players smacktalk.

Maybe Chad should send the Bengals D some Pepto-Bismol.

Our defense allowed 286 yards, forced 3 turnovers, and gave up 20 points. Our defense played better than our offense last week (not saying either was bad last week).

You say the defense couldn't get the stop at the end, but you could just as easily say the offense couldn't get the first down at the end. Or the offense fumbling and giving the Chiefs 6 points in a critical moment in the 4th quarter...

No doubt some of these guys think they are better than they are. CTB being one.

The offense had two opportunities to ice the game and failed.  You can't tell me with a straight face that a defense that goes in Burrowhead and forces Mahones to three turnovers didn't play well enough to win.

If the offense were more competent in critical moments, we win that game.

That's the thing with the Bengals. There will be weeks the offense is bad.

The Commanders aren't a good team and their defense is suspect.

We had KC at 4th and 16 and couldn’t stop them.  We had Washington at 3rd and long and could stop them. We had Indianapolis where we wanted them. They had to run the ball to run out the clock, we couldn’t stop them.

Last week? We gave them a defensive touchdown. Had a couple of drives late that would've ended the game if we put points on the board. Maybe ppl are giving the Chiefs too much credit but the defense did enough last week. Yes the offense looked good this week going against an atrocious defense. So let's look at the whole picture and not just what you want to see.

We have 2 issues that if we don't change it is a long year, 3rd down on defense getting off the field, been bad in 2 of 3 games and the offense improving in the red zone with TDs especially when it matters.

A lesson as old as time really. Talk smack, and you're going to be made to look very stupid.

I don't know why we were trying to ride in there with all this nonsense anyway... the win at their place was an incredibly close game and required a historic comeback to achieve. The first regular season game was the same, and the regular season game the following year was a tight win.

10-0 before that game by the way.

To be fair, take away the turnovers & it's a blowout.
