They had to run the ball to run out the clock, we couldn’t stop them. Neither our offense or defense could close out the game last week. So, to the OP who seemingly blamed the defense over the offense last week, the argument is completely illogical. If you're blaming the defense for not closing the game out, how can you not blame the offense for also not closing it out? That's lunacy. So if both units failed to close out the game, one unit held the best QB of all-time to 286 yards, 20 points, and 3 turnovers. To pretend that isn't a better performance than the offense (who performed totally fine), is crazy talk and blindly ignoring what you saw with your eyes. How can anyone say the offense out performed the defense when the offense literally gave up points? Our defense forces 3 turnovers. Our offense gives up 6 points. It's not even close which unit performed better.

Maybe ppl are giving the Chiefs too much credit but the defense did enough last week. Yes the offense looked good this week going against an atrocious defense. So let's look at the whole picture and not just what you want to see. Burrow was better than he was in week 1, he lost that game, but still not 100% vs KC and that was against a very good defense. Last night he was his old self. If we are to win games the defense must get stops when needed. The defense is 0-3 in getting 4th Qtr stops. The offense is on a major upward trajectory over the first 3 games. The defense was bad, not too bad, and terrible.

I agree with this. I do think Washington is a tough team to get off the field. They get positive plays and a QB who will run for 1st downs. We definitely made them look better but they might be the best offense we've played so far.

What you're really saying is other teams are motivated to beat us, and we have no motivation to win. That's what it looks like to me, Zac is motivating nobody.
If you have a 55 million QB trying to motivate a 1 million player, think that won't go well either. There is a problem in the locker room I think. Money creates problemos.

You can't tell me with a straight face that a defense that goes in Burrowhead and forces Mahones to three turnovers didn't play well enough to win. Offense had it's gaffs. But defense lost the game. The Commanders did whatever they wanted the entire game. They chewed up almost 8 minutes on their last scoring drive that left us no time to come back. They did not have to punt the entire game. If McPherson makes his FG it's a one point game despite our total inability to stop them. Offense was not the problem.

Bengals could easily be looking at 2-6 headed into the Raiders game right before the trade deadline. Trading Tee becomes a big talking point by then I would guess.

I guess it remains how is the rest of our division is doing... for example what if one of those wins is against Ravens, they are sitting 4-4 and lets say Steelers are 4-4 or 5-4 with six division games left. I don;t think the Bengals will trade Tee in that scenario with Burrow healthy

There is more to whether you are doing well than stat lines. The offense is partially responsible. Sure the defense is worse but even with the successes it has had the offense did not win the games for us. They didn't have the intangibles that elevated the motivation of people on the team. Instead they *checks notes* were talking smack about other teams or how we are the team to beat. It is a team sport, you all win or lose together. We are our record. We are 0-3.
I get that dealing with the press is tough. They are all fishing for a comment. You gotta figure out a way to say nothing while still being passionate about your game.

I don;t think the Bengals will trade Tee in that scenario with Burrow healthy I'm open to being wrong, but if our FO does anything other than nothing at the trade deadline and doesn't let Tee walk for a 19th round conditional pick I'll be amazed. Our front office has gotten away with doing nothing and then shrugging and saying "Welp...sorry fans, I guess he just didn't really like the Bengals as much as you do. Are we gonna miss that diva? No way, right!?" We want players who want to be here so badly that they'll gladly accept a front office that sits on its proverbial ass because they were literally born to run this team. Oh and if those players could take about 65% of their market value so they could make insurance commercials to make up the difference, so much the better. Anyways, what you say matters less that all that stuff above. Remember how Baker Mayfield was on the Browns and sucked because he supposedly was more interested in doing commercials, meanwhile Mahommes is making more commercials than he was but somehow winning multiple SB titles. The NFL is full of teams that do really well 1 year and then assume they'll be new dynasties, but it just doesn't pan out all that often. So I'm not worried about our lack of humility so much as our 30+ year history of our "employed here because we just happened to be born" front office.

Our team got too enamored with sniffing their own farts, lost our edge, and lost sight that we have to keep getting better every year or we will get worse. Don't need to get work in the preseason because week 1 and 2 are pointless, we will still make the playoffs and we don't need home playoff games because we can win in the road. As of the playoffs are just automatically granted to you because you think you deserve it. And Joe Burrow's record since then: 5-9 including that AFCCG in Jan 2023
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive. Sorry for Party Rocking!

My honest worry is based on what we've seen from Burton so far this year (which is little other than some great deep catches)...Bengals won't have a WR to truly replace Higgins as WR2 going into next offseason and will either have to get one in FA or use a premium draft pick on yet another WR. I don't think they'll pay $25+ mill APY to retain Higgins either. Using a draft pick could really suck because we know there will be clear needs at DL and IOL early next draft. Maybe another RB too if Chase Brown doesn't show enough this year.

Specifically; losing/letting players walk, to essentially divert money to Burrow's contract was the beginning - not smack talk. As related to the locker room, there is no such thing as Team harmony in NFL locker rooms, because when one co-worker takes home over 20% of the entire pie, it is in your face everyday you walk in that building. It is a culture of Monarchy, and you get scraps after the King eats. We don't go to work everyday and see Gates and Musk as co-workers. It will only get worse if Chase is extended. That is ~ 35% going to two players. There is only one cure for this - winning. Because it give the peasants hope that they can make more money on their next contract WITH ANOTHER TEAM. So, success then elevates expectations and creates discontent for players, which is then a problem for ownership. That is why Belichick was the greatest. He ruled over a number of Monarchs as a dictator and managed fallout from success.
