Injuries-week 5
#1
Trey is out of the sling and has suffered no nerve damage.  They will follow his progress throughout the week

BJ is closer to return than Sheldon is but again he is day to day.  BJ was at least stretching with the team on Sunday.

They will open the 21-day window for Myles Murphy and McKinnley Jackson closer to Wednesday and see where they are at.  Per Lou, Murphy will be of an immediate impact than the rookie Jackson who missed most of training camp

CTB was healthy yesterday, per Lou, simply "erratic"

Hoping Hill is available
Looks like Murphy will be available long before Jackson
And no excuse for Cam looking horrid..

and he is dressed for practice today

BJ and Murphy are also out there stretching.  Rankins is still not out there.  He hasn't even been on the rehab field yet so he is likely still several weeks away

Certainly looks like Outside of Rankins, our DL might be shaping up to be the most complete it has been.

The Mike Hilton injury makes me nervous too.

I know he’s lost a half-step but he is still a baller and can be a play-maker.

We’re going to need all the help we can get.

Posted ~5 hours (so ~5pm) on WED on Cincy Jungle site.
“Slot cornerback Mike Hilton (knee) was listed as out. It will be interesting to see if the injury keeps him sidelined throughout the week or if this was a de facto veteran’s rest day. Hilton did favor the knee in last Sunday’s win over the Carolina Panthers but returned to the game.”

So are we likely seeing more DJ Turner on the field if no Hilton?

That's the only saving grace in losing Hilton, Turner is a burner.

If there's a week to go from 3 starting CBs to 3 starting LBs, it's this one. Let Hilton rest. I'm guessing about 85% of Lamar's passes are to RBs or TEs anyway.

Or we'll see Newton if Turner is needed to rotate with CTB.

Josh Newton replaced Mike Hilton in the slot last week and practices there. Lou mentioned Newton and Jalen Davis (if he's brought up) to replace Hilton if he doesn't go which it's looking like.

If both the IR guys are ready to go, we should expect some roster moves soon.  There is one open roster spot, so that leaves someone who will be cut.  Lawrence Guy is obviously a candidate as he was only brought in to over the DT shortage

Yes, expecting Fig or Jalen to man the Slot if Mike cannot go. DJ is more of a boundary Corner with his speed.

Other than this Hilton injury we are looking much better this week especially on the DL with Trey, BJ, Myles and Mckinnley being able to play.

McKinley Jackson will probably not play, Lou as much as said so last week. He had no camp and even if healed he is not ready.

Quote:"Hopefully, (Murphy's) arrow will be up quicker than McKinnley's," Anarumo said. "McKinnley hasn't practiced since Aug. 8. He had maybe three padded practices. I hope he goes out there and is Reggie White on Sunday. It takes everybody some time.

"He's another willing soul. Wants to do everything he can. We have great expectations for him eventually, but he hasn't had any time to develop because he has done nothing but rehab since Aug. 8. We've got to get him in pads, striking the bag, getting off blocks, feeling what a double team feels like. All of that. And it's the Ravens."
Eventually is the key word there.
