I feel like Anarumo is more in the hot seat than Taylor right now.
Taylor's conservative decision-making for the FG in the Ravens game is less of a fireable offense compared to how bad Anarumo's defense is performing.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

The entire OT period doesn't happen if the defence makes a single stop in the 2nd half.

Absolutely
This defense is just awful and then some. We have like zero chance this season if somethings don't change and fast!
12 games left and we need to win like 11, at a minimum 10 of them to have any playoff chances. And you can't expect your offense to hang 35+ points a game all year. Especially when cold weather get here.

Zac called one run play to gain yards. He called one pass play Burrow checked out of.
The 3rd down run was to align Evan for the FG.
I would love to have seen him take a shot with Chase 1 on 1, but that would be very risky.
A shot with Chase 1 on 1 would be "very risky" Dude caught 10 of 12 targets for 193 yds and 2 touchdowns. What was our rushing stats in the 2nd half? Not good. I'm over the staff on both sides of the ball. The defense was terrible but when you absolutely gotta have they get us the ball. When you absolutely gotta have the offense gets us 2yds. I'll give Taylor credit he designs decent route concepts and there were some really good play designs yesterday. But the dude is worse than Marvin at situational football I keep hoping he'll learn and get better but he won't or can't.
I'm not excusing the defense but how many times the last few years have we won games and said the defense won that because the offense couldn't finish. Feels like quite a few. This offense can't finish games. They completely disappeared at the end yesterday.

I'm just spitballing here, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say if we would have dropped back and took a sack, got a holding call, threw an INT the SAME folks asking why now would be asking why then.
Let me see if I can get it right:
Fire Zac immediately, we were already in FG range and Brown was averaging about 4 yards/carry. Feed Chase 3 times, get it closer, on the hash Mac wants, and kick the FG. Hell the conditions were perfect for a FG, Turner had just hit a 56 yarder.
How'd I do?

We ran three offensive plays after we recovered the fumble at the Ravens 37 and got all the way down to the 35
We ran all 3 plays from heavy sets. And not a single pass despite JB having an outstanding day!! On the 1st play the Ravens have 9 defenders in the box. Everyone of them crashes to the LOS at the snap. J. Chase has a very soft coverage.
A half second after the snap there's a wiidddddeeeeee open middle of the field. If Chase runs a quick slant and it was a play action fake to Brown it's probably a TD. At a minimum a good gain. Of course JB would have to throw quickly.
I just can't understand why you have Joe Burrow for crying out friggin loud! And the coaches say screw that, put the Lamborghini away, lets get out the Honda civic and just get a couple yards a try a long FG.
And this isn't the first time ZT and Co. have been guilty of this. ML 2.0
Ravens were getting more pressure on Burrow it seemed towards end of regulation, Burrow was sacked last series but I would have passed on 2nd down, we get nothing, i then would have run the ball on 3rd down, I am also questioning how can we get 3 yards on 3 carries, minimum we should have had 6 to 8 yards...

If you can’t trust your offensive line to protect long enough for a quick throw and can’t trust the QB you’re paying a gazillion dollars to make good decisions and you can’t trust your two premium WR who want to be paid like superstars to catch the ball then you’ve already lost. You have these superstar skill players who have made plays all game and then with the game on the line you run 3 Pee Wee football dive plays.
Even if you want to run the ball three time - running them all out of heavy sets where you are basically holding up a sign that says “we’re going to run and we are playing for a 50+ yard FG” is beyond dumb. If Burrow checked out of a pass, exactly what look were they looking for from them defense in the heavy formation they were in.
The decision making was absolutely mind-boggling to me. It was playing not to lose plain and simple.

This is not the first time we have seen Zac pucker up at the end of games.

That’s the million dollar question. Once I saw us trying to run up the middle not even trying to put the game away I turned it off. Can’t stand how conservative Zac gets in situations like that. It’s Zac’s patented Prevent Offense. So done with it.

I think on 2nd down they were further back. They gained a small amount of yards on the runs.
Which begs the question, why not do a short screen to Chase? High percentage and he gains yards.

My other thing is you have Chase one on one against a rookie. You have Joe Burrow as the QB. You don't even try? Now, if it was Browning or something, yeah, I get it. But Joe is smart enough to know, you take the high percentage throw, if you got it. If not, throw it away. Gain zero, lose zero. Same as a run crashing into the line, but this has a higher likelihood of gaining long yardage.

Why is reality SO HARD for folks to understand?
It has been brought up numerous times that Zac called a pass play on the first down in OT, JB checked out of it, because HE wanted to run.
OK, let's pretend that never happened so we can continue to hate on Zac. "Well why the hell didn't Zac call a pass on the next 2 plays? "
IDK maybe his QB had already indicated he's more comfortable running in that situation because he's already checked out of a pass.
So why not call plays resigned to run if the QB is more comfortable with running and if the QB sees something to want him to check out of a pass, HE can do it.
We're in Bizarro world this team just scored 38 points against one of the best Defenses in the NFL and the board is littered with armchair QBs questioning the play calling.

Burrow checked out of a first down pass so that means he doesn't want to throw the ball on 2nd or 3rd down? A first down pass play BTW from a 3 TE tight formation. Talk about bizarro world.
Taylor played not to lose. He deserves every single bit of criticism he is getting. The team is 1-4 and headed absolutely nowhere.
