Playing time being equal, I would rather see Burton develop than Marshall not.

I feel pretty confident that we will see Burton develop into an exciting player to watch, however he's going to need some running mates when Tee is gone and injuries creep up like they always seem to. Might as well give a guy who was a 5 Star prospect and 2nd round pick an opportunity to regain himself in a fresh place with a familiar face throwing him the ball.

How fast can he get to the sidelines from the middle of the field?

Feel personally it would be a great addition. Yet suspect the decision to add him or not will ultimately go to Burrow.

I would like to see the team give Marshall a tryout. Irwin hasn't done much. C. Jones receiving hasn't done much. They are not giving Burton many snaps. Back-up receivers almost seem nonexistent. When Tee was out no one stepped up.

In 36 games terrace marshal has 64 catches for 767 yards on 110 targets.

In 80 games, Andre, Irwin, Charlie and Burton have 83 catches for 1,108 yards on 130 targets.

Also consider the QB throwing the ball. Also, I didn’t include touchdowns. You can bring that up, but the scoring opportunities playing with Joe burrow vs Carolina QBs also can’t be understated.

Marshall should be given an opportunity to play with a decent QB.

Nico Collins first two years he played with Davis mills, tyrod taylor, Kyle Allen, Jeff driskell.

He had 70 catches, for 927 yards on 126 attempts (56% completion) Give him stroud and he is one of the best receivers in the game.

Not saying Marshall is the next Nico, but both were day 2 picks in 2021.

Well said Sunset. Burton I think will end up showing once he practices well enough and grows as a route runner. Cannot just have Go
routes as those are predictable even if Burton is fantastic at them, he needs to be able to run Slants, Posts, Outs and Fades. Terrace
Marshall is a big body and like you said was a 5 Star Prospect with Burrow chemistry.

If there is one place Marshall could resurrect his career it is here with Burrow and Chase his old buddies. This isn't Thad Moss.

The hold up could me more than simply route running, as everyone who has ever played WR has had to learn a route tree. If I'm a guessing man, it's in learning the subtle changes that happen with the audibles system. Ex. original play might call for a 15 yd out route, audible might change that to a 7 yd out, etc. Those are the things that second year players get tuned into on that first full year of offseason activities.

Well Brock is Purdy good and TM did nothing there when both Aiuyek and Debo were out.

That makes complete sense as well with Jermaine. If Joe cannot trust him to audible to the correct route that could be a disaster.

It's also so much about selling routes to defenders, adjusting as you allude to, body position between the ball and defender, high-pointing the ball, just an overall chemistry that needs to develop, getting off man/press and, naturally, blocking and being a willing blocker which are two different things both on passing and running plays.

Aiyuk hasn't missed a game this year. He's just been largely unproductive.

-Certainly not a salty fantasy player who drafted Aiyuk

He got paid good too, I bet 49ers fans aren't very happy with Aiyuk right now.
