PFF Grades - Week 7 Browns

He was good carrying the ball for sure but he got Stroud hit a few times with his poor pass protection like usual.

We are better at RB in pass protection this season is my point without Mixon. Moss has been beat but not like Mixon always is.

When Mixon runs well, he is damn good but he is just very inconsistent and it has shown again this year with the Texans.

Yes, I poorly communicated by referring to depth, which means backups, and not my intended meaning of referencing the depth chart for the IOL or the overall OL/IOL position group. I was offering the Bengals should draft IOL, or use free agency, to strengthen the position group which could include new starters.

Yes sir Tecmo, need some good Guards. I had hope for Volson and I like Cappa at times but these guys are just so inconsistent.

I know you are talking about depth behind them, but if we can add starter quality it would help even more. Cappa is not playing up to his paycheck.

BTW, love those run stopping grades by Jenkins and even Trey who we all dog on with his run stopping. Agree with Weezy that it is
getting a touch concerning with Myles Murphy. It is time for him to emerge as a pass rusher and do what he is good at in stopping the
run, he is getting snaps.

Cappa is being very inconsistent this year same as Volson. Orlando Brown is playing great, happy he is okay. Love Mims.

I'm sure Mixon is also excited to be with HOU given his offensive production.
His 5.2 YPC is by far the best of his career.
He's averaging 121 yards from scrimmage and 1.25 TDs per game right now, on pace for >1500 yards from scrimmage.
He's having arguably his best season.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: 3-5 so far. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Unfortunately the Bengals are not likely to get a Day 1 upgrade at IOL in the draft, so they'll need to dip in FA for that if that's what they need/want.

I expect instead they'll look to get an IOL sometime on Day 2 and have that player as a backup for 2025 then take over for Cappa (or Volson) after they depart in FA.

It would not surprise me to see Volson signed to a veteran deal after next season just to keep some continuity.
And Volson's deal will likely be something most of us will be frustrated with ($7-8 mill APY).

Pettiness and jealousy is a lot of what makes NFL players good. I think Zac hasn't been good at creating that for our own team. I noticed it about Mixon on several occasions when he was on the Bengals. Any Bengals fan could have predicted Mixon's first Texans game, they could also predict Saquon's Eagles vs. Giants game that just happened.

Yes, he is running the ball well this season and to most no one's surprise around here. He fits that Texans Offense to a T.

I was talking about him still being a poor pass protector. But just watch, next week he will have around 50 yards or so...

Just how inconsistent of a runner he is.

But I agree.

I think giving Lee a try at C and kicking Karras to OG would be a good idea and worth a try. Trouble is, which bad Guard does he replace? Cappa and Volson both are struggling.

Yea but pass blocks don't get you into a Ring of Honor Wink
You ask almost any RB and they'll tell you they'd rather touch the ball over blocking.
The ones who are good at and like to block are a rare breed. Most also are not overly good ball carriers.

guard has been so bad this season.. Cappa been getting whooped and Volson gets penalties and can't see the simplest of stunts coming on top of getting whopped some. It's time to change the guards and probably the OL coach

Volson's 2 holding penalties were total garbage calls.

I’m surprised Ossai graded so low. After rewatching the game I thought he had a great game.

I guess that just goes to show how little average fans like you and I know, compared to those with the trained eye that grade players.  Ninja

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations
