Because after 3 straight winning seasons and a playoff record of 5-2, he's started off 3-5? I am EXTREMELY glad that none of us are in charge of this football team.
It's not the record, my god context man. Look how they've played compared to previous years. The O-line has pass protected better that's the only positive, there's no other improvements anywhere on the team.

I see some truth here for sure.....and also from an article on Cincy Jungle saying Joe needs to do a better job of being a leader. Boy ....talk about folks not liking something.

"Lack of Leadership on the Field
Honestly, I’m talking to you, Joe Burrow. You can spin it, but if you can’t light a fire under the other 52 guys out there, it doesn’t matter. You need to be a vocal leader on the field and hold your teammates accountable. You are the guy they will follow. Step up and be the leader they need."
For me....the real problem is still the front office and lack of scouting.

Agreed. Burrow really should have taken some accountability at this point and line up at MIKE to lead this defense by example.

The thing is, we haven't bottomed out yet. Lose Tee, Trey, and/or Chase and we will.
I had this exact conversation on a Facebook group yesterday about lightning in a bottle. It's the Brown family way. After listening to Big Whits interview, Katie and Troy may actually be worse than the old man.

Funny ....but the guy writing that article (and it pointed a lot to coaching if you bother to read) is a coach. I think he's saying he needs to show a little Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or even Troy Aikman on the sidelines when people are effing it up out there.

The Bills have underachieved in the playoffs, and I’m sure deep down many of their fans have to wonder if McDermott is really the guy to win it all for them. Especially after 13 seconds.
At the end of the day Zac Taylor sucked into landing both Burrow and Chase, and then proceeded to ride the two of them, an opportunistic defense, and a kicker who went 19/19 in the playoffs to a Super Bowl. Cool. It was super fun. But that was 3 seasons ago now which in NFL years is an eternity. The fact is he’s a sub 500 coach who never has his team ready to start the season, and is about to miss the playoffs for a 2nd straight year (despite having a 4th place schedule). Probably looking at another last place finish too now that Cleveland isn’t hampered with Watson anymore.
Devil's Advocate here .....but hypothetically, if the Bengals switch HCs and Burrow has another four interception, one fumble opening day....will we still blame all of the slow starting on the HC? Asking for a friend.

the people here need to check out that interview. Specifically that part
Is there a chance whit is being a bit hyperbolic? maybe. Not ruling that out. But getting Mike to agree to an extension, only to have mike's daughter and son in law tell whit essentially... "mike wants to extend you. we dont. we dont want any part of this" is NOT a good look for the future of this franchise.
and the blackburns are gonna have full control once mike passes

ATP Chase, Burrow, and Tee are the offense. You told us not to worry about Tee cause we needed to spend the money elsewhere but we had 2 all pro level guys in house and didn’t even sign them
I’m pretty sure we closed our own SB window by being cheap
And when we let Tee walk for free i honestly don’t think we have a roster anyone would want to come to without Burrow Chase and Tee. Those are your centerpieces.
Also if Tee leaves then we’ll all be crying for a WR cause Chase is just gonna get triple teammed every play
So we may be in crazy spot where we gotta sign Tee just to keep Chase too cause if I’m Chase I’m not resigning with this dumbass team just to get triple teammed. I’ll go to Baltimore for 25M per and win a SB
Absolutely....the front office is nothing but a bunch of liars....but coaches and QBs gotta be the scapegoats. Even with 30+ years of ineptitude.

Typically, I might tend to agree with your sentiments. However with how the wheels came off in the second half on Sunday, it left the Bengals 0-4 in front of the home crowd this year. A year in which they were picked by many to be dominating the Conference, rather than playing sub .500 football. How many in the stadium in the past few seasons do you think are attending for the first time in years, or perhaps even for their first ever attended Bengals game?
Tickets and a day at the ball park is a serious financial hit for working class families. How many more of these absolute stinker games do you think that it will take to send the blue collar fans back to their living rooms? If the Bengals front office doesn't get their collective head out of their hind end, they'll be watching home games with visiting teams' fans dominating the atmosphere, again...

Bengals technically should be able to afford a couple more losses before being "out of it," but what's the likelihood of going 7-2 after seeing the product on the field in the first 8 games?
It's possible they turn things around, but I think as each week goes by, more and more fans are getting into this "Time for next year" mindset.
Fielding a great team through FA is going to get even harder from here on out, especially if they sign Chase to a mega deal.
Improving the scouting department and coaching staff to better identify players and coach them up will be critical in the coming few years to get back into the contender category.
I don't think it will happen, but the Bengals were 3-5 in 2012. It *could* happen, but I doubt it. Just saying it ain't over yet....

It's not exactly breaking news that the Browns are cheap. The true irony in it though is, instead of just paying the piper at the first chance, they continue to kick the can down the road and between draft capital and below level replacements, end up paying more in the end then they would have originally. This already has applied to Jesse Bates and DJ Reader and will happen again with Higgins and Chase. Truly mind-boggling level of ineptitude from this front office.
Absolutely!

I'm through blaming players and coaches (although I kinda got off that train after Marvin and Piano Man). The absolute ineptitude this front office has displayed in maintaining some semblance of the 2021 roster is borderline sabotage. They've let Bates, Reader, Boyd, Mixon, Ogunjobi, Awuzie, walk and replaced them with who? They got nothing but overvalued comp picks, if that, for them. They also told us we needed to let Bates go to pay Tee/Chase/Joe. So far, they've paid Joe. They ain't paying Tee because they needed that money to pay Chase.....they botched that shit up. They get a decent squad going every so often, then set out immediately to burn it to the ground. It's insane.

Pointing to anything other than the terrible defense, non-existent running game, head scratching coaching decisions, and a kicker with the yips, is…an interesting take. To say the least.
Burrow is 3rd in TD’s, 6th in yards, 4th in completion %, 1st in QBR, 5th in passer rating
What are we even doing here?

Trying to get some of you to understand it is the front office?
Edit: also, I don't understand how you can't look at QB1's opening week(s) stats and say he doesn't share some of the blame for slow starts. What *are* we doing here?

And we would trade a number of our players for some on their lists. It's impossible to assert Zac deserves any credit to someone who has already made up their minds. MANY did it in the first 2 years and have just been waiting to be "right". Zac has screwed that up for them the last 3 years by finishing with winning records. Hell, he even had a better winning percentage without Joe last year than he did with him. But I get it: "That doesn't count".
For some being one of only 3 AFC Teams to play in a Superbowl (2-3 whole seasons ago) in the last 8 years is enough and some think it sucks.

Absolutely man! Watch that Whit interview when you get the chance. It's pretty damn eye opening. With stupid shit like that going on upstairs, it eventually creeps back to your locker room and probably creates resentment within the staff.
I'm not delusional to think these coaches are of Lombardi ilk....but I also think they're better than credited for....much like with our much maligned former QB. I just feel like they are/were made to be scapegoats for the inbred ****ers running the show. Whits interview makes that crystal clear to me.
Also, my edit should clear up things. Taylor absolutely botches shit.....see that 3rd and 1/ 4th down sequence Sunday. But Joe ....for good reason at times....also starts out very slow every year.
