Bengals vs Raven predictions
#41
The key to this game (and honestly with playing all these out of structure QBs), is the defensive backs.

IMO, pass rushing is overrated when playing QBs like Lamar, Jayden Daniels, etc. They almost WANT that pass rush to hit so that they can get out of structure and create in a way they feel more comfortable.

We need our coverage and DBs to hold up when Lamar gets out of strcuture. They failed to do it in the first game (and this entire season if we are going to be honest).

Hopefully Lou has a gameplan drawn up to keep Lamar IN structure. Keep him in the pocket, almost LIMIT the pass rush and drop in coverage. In order for that to happen though, our DBs need to hold up...which I am not 100% sure they have the ability to do.

In his defense, he’s done a decent job over the last few years with this very thing, but in my opinion, this is THE SCARIEST Rat Birds team we’ve ever faced.

Its the scariest offense. Their defense still leaves something to be desired of. It's going to be a shootout.

I predict lots of penalties. The referee is Clete Blackman whose crew leads the league in both the number of penalties called and penalty yardage. He calls unnecessary roughness a lot, often multiple times a game. He also calls for a lot of unsportsmanlike conduct.

With the history between these 2 teams, those yellow flags will become a factor. The team that can keep control will have a head start towards a victory

The issue is, we went all out stopping Henry last game and while his volume wasn't effective, his presence and our mission to stop the run meant Lamar threw the ball all over us.

It's one thing to stop the run while stopping the pass (or slowing it down), but if you slow down the run while giving up easy completions all game, what have you really accomplished?

Bengals have the momentum and hopefully their running game continues to be a factor.

31-26 good guys.

Jackson appears to be somewhat injured so hopefully this will impact his scrambling some and allow us to keep him in the pocket easier.

For sure, we have had good games against these QB's in the past though under Lou. Specifically against Mahomes this year, but yes the
rest of the games with these scrambling QB's has been abysmal Defense. Nice that we finally have some DT's healthy, Jenkins and Jackson
our rookies actually made some very nice plays against the Raiders.

Most likely. Just need the Defense to make a few stops in the 2nd half unlike the last time we played these bastids.

We are a much more disciplined team. Advantage in our favor here.

Tee is out for sure.

They won’t need a solid D to cover Irwin lol
*We shall see if Burton plays

Dionte Johnson + Zay Flowers > Chase + Irwin/Burton
Henry > Brown/Herbert
2024 Lamar = Burrow
Andrews > Gesicki

We just beat a team without Tee that beat this Ravens team. Ja'Marr Chase, Mike Gesicki, Chase Brown, Iosivas, Khalil Herbert should be
able to be enough against that Defense to not rely on Irwin.

??  Ravens have won 6 out of last 7 and beat us at home.. that sounds like momentum to the home team, could be a long nite for Bengals tomorrow, hope not but not feeling too confident.

I hate the combo of their potent rushing game with their new toy Dionte Johnson and also Zay having a big game last week. Even if we have some long drives with the two Chases and Gesicki moving the ball we are going to need turnovers. We gotta do a lot to win.
