How Do You Think The Fanbase Would React?
#1
This is a serious question, the front office does absolutely NOTHING this offseason to truly get better, yes they pick this guy up in the offseason on the cheap and have their usual bad drafting but no difference makers happen, no coaching changes whatsoever and the Bengals are right where they are now only a year from now...yet again.

Burrow and Chase had enough and want out and are done playing for the Bengals. Losing the two of them as a result of a ma and pa organization unwilling to be serious about winning. Would that break the backs of Bengal fans once and for all or is it just par for the course in the life of following the Bengals?

Generally, we do a fairly minimal amount in free agency.

I doubt that Burrow asks out.

But, the Chase situation is tough. If they lowball him, he'll hold out.

Burrow left OSU for the opportunity he needed, I have no doubt in my mind he would do the same to get on a team that could win Super Bowls. Guys like him are so driven by competition and it's what makes them who they are. If he sees that an organization isnt as serious as he is about it he will eventually leave.

He left OSU because he wasn't playing.

If Burrow threatens to leave or the organization can sense he's unhappy, you BETTER believe they will change and do what he wants. They 100% know Burrow is their cash cow and gives them revelency. Burrow is different and the organization will bend over backwards for him. They've already done it with his contract/structure.

Make no mistake, this isn't the Carson Palmer situation.

I realize that, but he is in a different place right now and it's about him winning Super Bowls and creating a legacy for himself. I also dont think he would be asking for an out after this season but if he has another season like this and sees the pieces arent being put in place to make this team a contender, the cracks will start to form.

Well you're prognosticating what he will do. He may very well see it as his legacy to make this team a Champion and that be his legacy.

It's par for the course..... I'd just go back to watching more baseball and racing.

He literally couldn't be playing better right now and he's 4-6. He should be league MVP. 24 TD's and 4 Int's.

An off-season where we don't see significant changes in some capacity is going to wash away whatever goodwill was built in 2021 and 2022.  It is completely and totally insane for your QB to be playing at this level and having a losing season.  And all of this happening amid stadium negotiations is not ideal for pretty much any of the parties involved.  Why would the county and the taxpayers financially support a team that's not all-in to win?  Chiefs are undefeated, yet they went out and get help anyway.  Ravens are playoff contenders, yet they went out and got help anyway.  Our season is slipping away, and we're happy with the guys in the building.  Again, insanity.

I'm honestly convinced Joe Burrow is going to be the best QB this franchise ever sees.  This front office needs to snap out of their usual bullshit and do whatever that man asks them to do.
Everything in this post is my fault.

100% on your whole post

Burrow doesn't seem the type to make demands to front office. But you know how ownership can change a players demeanor...

Maybe if he threw for 35 TDs and 0 INTs by this point he'd be .500 right now.

They've "had enough" they've only been in the AFC Championship Game 1/2 their careers.

They should go somewhere and win all the Super Bowlz

The only guy arguably playing better is Lamar. And he had the benefit of playing our defense twice (8 of his passing TD’s and 640 of his yards).

They spent in FA on OL a couple of years ago(besides brown this year) and those guys were average then and are getting older and worse. It's time to replace Cappa and Volson at the very least !!

Do we expect them to do anything this off-season? No. Why? The massive Ja'Marr Chase deal will dominate free agency again and they won't want to mess up their 2026 third round Tee Higgins comp pick by signing quality caliber outside free agents.

Yeah it's no longer about FA spending at this point.  It's clownery to suggest that they are underperforming due to inactivity in FA.  That narrative has been dead since 2020 or so.  In some cases they've even gotten the best player they possibly could at a position of major need (Reader, OBJ).

The current problem is scouting and evaluation.  We have a pretend GM and 6 scouts.  That's not a serious scouting department.  It's barely a skeleton crew.  Being deficient in scouting directly correlates with the crap drafts we've had more often than not in the Burrow era.  You can't have Myles Murphy picks that disappear on the field while the pass rush is non-existent. You can't have Jackson Carman unable to get on the field for years at a major position of need.  You can't have Dax Hill taking 3 seasons to find a position in the NFL.

The other problem is a strange stigma about certain positions and how they should be paid.  They just can't get it through their heads that safeties and interior OL actually matter in this league and should be paid accordingly.  We watched our most important defensive player walk away in Bates and felt the impact soon after.  Now he's arguably a top 5 defensive player in the league for someone else.  I'd bet a large amount of money that if he played corner he'd still be in stripes, but the Brown way dictates that safeties are insignificant and replaceable.
