I would argue that the front office has been wildly successful, just not for the reasons most front offices are judged on. Mike, Katie, Mike Junior, and Troy have all become wildly rich while running an absolutely inept operation. In no private enterprise would such ineptitude be rewarded so handsomely. They skillfully schemed, pinched pennies, and rolled over cap money over many years to continue raising enough capital to buy out the remaining minority owners. They also managed to rip off Hamilton County in arguably the most one-sided stadium deal in all of professional sports. Now they own one of 32 NFL franchises despite having run a historically unsuccessful operation since they took over 30 seasons ago. All their kids have jobs with the front office, Mike still pays himself a GM salary, and God knows what his kids and Troy get in salary. The teams success has been nonexistent, but the family’s success is inarguable.
Through 2023
Mike Brown’s Owner/GM record: 32 years 223-303-4 .419 winning pct.
Playoff Record: 5-9, .357 winning pct.
Zac Taylor coaching record, reg. season: 37-44-1. .455 winning pct.
Playoff Record: 5-2, .714 winning pct.

Nope Burrow would not fall into the "kick rocks" category if he wanted better facilities. If he abandoned his teammates then yes.
But folks around here have underestimated Burrow's tenacity ever since he entered the draft. I don't see him giving up on his teammates after signing a large contract.
Shake your head all you want.
Our front office let Palmer, Dalton and Burrow twist in the wind so it's sadly anything but old news.

As i Remember, Carson got hurt by an Bengals dt that crawled all the way to the QB and wrenched his knee, late hit career devastating and Super Bowl bound to heart deflating defeat to the same nemesis the stealers/cheaters that have ruined many good players careers. Same thing in San Diego late hits on Joey B and Tee, no calls and made up calls. Changes in the Bengals operations need to happen, however the nfl will never change.3 facemasks on game ending play "Ravens" pass interference on us, free muggings on us,.

If Carson had any semblance of a defense and a decent o-line he’d have won multiple playoffs games and had a real chance of taking this team all the way. By the end of Carson’s time here he was seeing ghosts from all the hits he was taking and was never the same player. Carson’s tenure also seemed to be a time where they were fine with signing low character and me first players.
Once they skimped on the o-line it was over.
Great post. I bought season tickets when he was drafted (I live in West Point, NY) hoping to secure SB tickets. Great QB until that Steeler playoff injury.

Our FO has not let Burrow 'Twist in the wind"
After we drafted him, we got him a WR in the next round.
The next year we got him his Coll WR and O-linemen is rounds 2-4-6
We've gotten him Oline help in every FA window he's been in the league.
Hell we just spent a 1st rounder on oline
They have let the D go to shit.

I know a lot of talking heads (and Palmer) were saying not to come here and I was fine with Herbert and the extra #1's if Burrow chose not too.
FWIW my post history also shows I wanted Lamar.
I think Burrow wins a ring on the Ravens and Lamar is about the same as Burrow has been on the Bengals. Winning a bunch of games and nothing to show for it, and also probably having some poorer seasons due to Zac Taylor ineptitude.

And not a single one of them worked out. Idk how anyone could try and claim with a straight face that they haven’t failed him on the OL.
And if you want to say it’s his play style ok cool there’s some truth to that, but not enough to account for THAT much of a disparity. He’s taken 27 QB hits in the last two games alone ffs. And the worst part is its not even because of a backup LT, it’s the two guards that are mostly getting him killed.

I never said they did a good job of it, but they've tried. They quote was "They left him twisting"..
I don't know how anyone can say with a straight face that they've not tried to upgrade Oline.
Of all the things we've "failed to address" oline is toward the bottom.

Not going to lie because again my post history says otherwise but I wasn't really a huge Burrow fan until this season. It wasn't that I thought he was a bad pick but again with Herbert there (plus the extra #'1's - I believe 3 or 4 were being floated?) and Zac seeming to take a liking to him without all the extra #1's - Well, flashes of Akili started to form. A "are they really going to pass that up again" situation. After all, before Joes magical senior year he was projected to be what - a fifth round pick?
So yeah I've said it before and I'll be honest and say it again - I would have taken Herbert and the picks. Back then.
Fast forward to today and Joe is having a incredible year. He is everything I had hoped we were getting. Not that he didn't show flashes in previous seasons or anything but this year he has been truly consistent MVP "elite". It's just a damn shame about the rest of the pieces.
Lamar was raw but remember we didn't have a line at the time - not that we really do now - but I felt his legs could compensate for that. I hate that the Ravens got him because I really enjoy watching him play. He's a favorite.

I don't know what else to call it when a QB having an MVP season is 3 games under .500.
There is time left, but the current book on Burrow is going to be how he would have won 4+ SBs in Pittsburgh or something to that tune.
Burrow twists in the wind because we have a GM who has drafted 0 HOF players in 34 years and treats the trade deadline as a mere annoyance.

Yes, Carson was always right and it was honestly even worse back then IMO.
At least we have seen some big FA moves in the Zac Taylor era namely on Defense. Too bad we let Reader and Chido get away
and let the Defense go to crap. You don't bring in Rankins a 3-tech to replace Reader a NT. Burrow playing at an MVP level should
be plenty enough to be at the very least at .500 right now.
