Breaking Burrow's spirit

You're never going to have a totally healthy team in the NFL. Never.

All teams deal with injuries.

The Jets come to mind, but it's a close call.

Yup 2-3, and my point still stands. No one should be losing when scoring over 30 basically, let alone three times.

Basically no one rarely loses if they score more than 31,  except the Bengals, who are now 2-5 on the season when scoring over 31.

No doubt Millhouse, historically bad. You should win 90% of your games when you score 31+. Not lose more than half of them.

Need a new DC after this season and a new DL coach at the very least. No pass rush besides Trey is also inexcusable as well as starting a
hurt Sam Hubbard over Myles Murphy who has a good pressure rate this season.

Eric01 you can't blame injuries man.  Every team has injuries.
The Bengals lost games they "should've" won.  In the 90's we would've called it they "Bungaled" that win away.  Most of this season watching games, all I can think to myself is "how are they gonna bungal this game away".  I hate thinking that way but man the ineptness of the defense and McPherson is just crazy.

I think the Bengals had a good draft this season. I think they truly have some good picks in Mims, McKinney, Jenkins I think are going to big contributors over the next 4 years.  All was having a great season, but after the 2nd ACL surgery on the same knee, lets see if he can come back.  Newton could be a nice nickle corner for us, and Matt Lee will eventually be the center.  This year was a great draft.   I think it's a great draft even if you dont get anything from Burton.  Until he gets his head straight that kid just isn't going to play.

Next year Tee will be gone,  I think you need to cut Rankins, Hubbard and go find 2 players that can get after the QB and stuff the run.  Both have had horrid years.  Address the IOL.   Again, I dont think they're far away.  Just some tweaks.

That's true, but when you have multiple injuries hitting the same position group, that's hard to recover from. We lost Sample for the year, Sheldon Rankins for a batch of games, BJ Hill for a batch of games, Hubbard is evidently playing injured and stinking up the place, Jackson started the year injured as well as Jenkins. That's a lot of D line to be playing without.

I hate to say it but you could almost feel a dysfunction in this team in training camp.

When all the talk about contracts came down with Tee and Trey.

Then they start losing and players start talking shit.

I want this team to succeed but I almost feel like there's so much inside noise it wasn't going to happen this year.

Next year, figure out Trey and Uno's contracts. Sign them.  Fix the defense and IOL.

This team isn't that far away.  Although, they've talked like they're Super Bowl contenders.

I think the team started to believe their own hype in training camp, and came out to start the year getting punched in the mouth.

Agree, imagine the stealers starting out the season with Heyward, Ogunjobi, Benton and Twatt hurt and see if that doesn't affect them.

That was how bad we were decimated with Rankins, BJ Hill, Hubbard and our rookies hurt and our talent is not near as high.

Honestly, it feels like we've played without Rankins for the year because he's been pretty "rank" all year.  Dude just hasnt lived up to his price tag.

However Nate to be fair, Rankins is no where near Heyward, and Hubbard has to have been one of the worst DL in the NFL this year period.  Doesn't help when CBT has stunk up the joint at CB either.

The other side of the coin is the Steelers also have a good enough front office that have quality 2nd string DL to at least get them through the tough time.  Evidently the Bengals do not.   Even with the DL back, teams are walking through our defense like it's butter.  So again, you can blame injuries but I think this goes deeper than injuries.

True, Rankins has been rank lol

The most disappointing FA acquisition to me, because I at the very least thought he would bring a good pass rush.

Kris Jenkins has been much better and is a rookie.

Cannot disagree TJ, we are not near as talented as the stealers DL is. Still, to lose that number of players early in the season is devastating
no matter the Defensive Line.

Imagine comparing the loss of BJ Hill and Myles Murphy to missing TJ Watt and Cameron Heyward.

That's not even the beginning of an equal comparison, Nate. That's like if a Steelers fan complained about starting the season with Russell Wilson out and said to you "imagine if Joe Burrow was out". They're not the same level of player, so it's not the same level of loss.

Hell, they're all back and we still have the 28th scoring defense.

Yeah, cannot disagree on the level of talent at all. But starting out the season with 2 total DT's and no starters is pretty bad for anyone
even if our starters suck lol

They won't break his spirit. I suspect they'll piss him off though. He's out when his contract is up and that'll be that.
Everything in this post is my fault.

I'm guessing the man has an absolute disdain for losing. Some people get angry, some get depressed, some shut down, it all just varies. Think his spirit is fine.

It's not comparing individual players, it's pointing out losing starters.

When will folks realize that not every professional starting QB wants to quit. It's true we had the only one in history so folks may not realize how preposterous it is.
