But the NFL isn't "scripted"   Unless you wear red and have #'s 15 or 87 where you can tell the refs when and which penalty to call. Fines to these multi wealthy players is like a $5 fine to the working man or woman. It's comical and is a poor circus act.

Now to do that, we need to decide if our corners suck because the D-line can't get any pressure (except for Trey) and get better pass rushers, or get better corners. Personally, I think another quality pass rusher to match with Trey fixes a LOT of problems, and I think our new DT's are going to be fine. Fig Newton and Turner andHill when they are back improves our corner situation (re-sign Hilton) Get rid of Rankins and spend his money on someone else. Offense is fine. Tee is probably gone, so maybe draft a fast receiver to put across from Chase (one that doesn't constantly have his head up his ass) Probably need to pick up some guards as well.

The only way we don’t need an overall is if it’s Lou’s system that’s not working vs. the players cause if not we’re a mess roster wise on D. Hendrickson wasn’t happy with his contract this year doubt he’ll be happy going into next year with 1 year left coming off another great season. Does this front office have the balls to cut Hubbard ? Can Myles Murphy play ? Also if we don’t draft a pass rusher high I doubt we spend big on one in FA. Agree with you at DT cut Rankins , Hills A FA I’d like to resign. I like Jenkins and Jackson as run stuffers there not know as pass rushers tho. If Hill’s not resigned you probably have Jenkins/ Jackson starting with no depth. Feel like there’s a false hope at CB. Turner was a 2nd rd. pick in year 2 of his 11th game who hadn’t been great up to that point. He had a few nice pass break ups and it’s getting portrayed like oh man he just got hurt in his breakout game the light finally came on vs. the ladder of what we’ve seen. Hill is though to assess in only 4 games feel like he might be a solid CB 2. Two of the games were vs the Panthers and Patriots with awful WR cores and then he gets burned for the game winning Td vs. the Commanders. Part of Hill’s appeal was if he made a mistake was hey he’s never played outside CB before. Plus coming of an ACL is brutal for a corner if he struggles next season will we attribute it too his ACL ? and we also have to make a decision on his 5th year option. I’m done with CBT we keep saying his technique isn’t good anymore ok , how can a player in year 3 not know if we’re in man or zone every week ? Didn’t even mention safety , assuming Battle starts next year he’s a liability in coverage and Stone can’t cover or tackle and has 1 year left.

How many of those one score games were the Bengals down more significantly than one score, before adding some "garbage time" points?

There are very few corners in the league that can hold up with zero pass rush. Sooner or later, the receiver will break free. Personally, I'd draft a fast corner and move CTB to safety and roll with him and Battle back there.

I'm not quite sure how there is " garbage time" in a one score game. Seems to me most of those games were close all the way through.

Because it wasn't a one-score game, UNTIL the losing team scored a meaningless TD (with likely less than 1 minute remaining) which then made the end result a one-score game.  The failed onside kick usually being the final nail in the coffin.

So besides San Diego, what games were they getting blown out in except Philly? You guys are amazing.. it's "They should fight all the way to the end" and "They should never quit".... and then when they come out after the 1st half of getting blown out and fight their way back into a game, they did it in "Garbage time." I'm not saying CTB is slow, I think he'd be better at Safety. If they move him, they need a fast corner to replace him.

I wasn't arguing with you specifically.  Just illustrating how a game that ENDS with one team within one score, can still be a "garbage time score" game.

Chiefs are in close games this season:

Quote:It was the Chiefs' eighth win of the year by a touchdown or less, which is an NFL record thru 11 games of the season.

Is it fair, as Bengals fans, we hold the organization we root for to the same expectations as an elite team like the Chiefs? Some teams do find a way to win the close ones week after week.

While not a 1 score game, your point is a game like the Bucs/Ravens.

The final score was 41-31.

The score was 41-18 with 6:32 left in the game. Obviously this game wasn’t as close as the final score would suggest.

If the Bengals had won some and lost some against these teams currently sitting in the playoff seeding, I'd be more inclined to say they could compete if in the playoffs.

However, they haven't won a single one, which instead tells me they just aren't quite good enough to beat those teams, which means they're in that 12-18 range in terms of team rankings.

Maybe they've made some changes during the Bye that will start bucking that trend against PIT and DEN.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

This list is not inclusive or exhaustive, quickly went through games this year.

Cowboys/Falcons - cowboys score a TD with 1:30 to go, cut the lead to 5, was 14.

Washington/giants - giants score TD with 2:30 left, cut lead from 11 to 5.

Vikings/jags - jags kick field goal with :30 left, cut lead from 11 to 8.

Raiders/chiefs - raiders score TD with 2:03 left, cut lead from 14 to 7

Bengals/browns - browns score TD with 1:27 left, cut lead from 14 to 7

Broncos/chargers - broncos score fg with :30 left, cut lead from 10 to 7.

Bears/colts - bears score TD with 2:01 left, cut lead from 12 to 5

49ers/vikings - niners score FG with 1:12 left, cut lead from 9 to 6.

Broncos/seahakws - broncos score TD with 2:03 left, cut lead from 13 to 6.

I like that idea actually think he'd be better at safety as well.

The bengals were never getting blown out by Washington. This is histarical. They were down big after the mclaurin TD, but it was 3rd and 7 and mclaurin made one of the best catches of the season.

Jayden Daniels’ 27-yard touchdown pass to Terry McLaurin had a completion probability of 10.3%, the most improbable TD of the season, and the most improbable completion by the Commanders in the NGS era (since 2016).

If mclaurin doesn’t make that catch, then the bengals most likely win that game as Washington couldn’t stop bengals.

Did they pull their starters??? To me "Garbage time" is when the other team is so far ahead they are pulling starters and playing backups. When Dalton came back from 17 down in the 4th to win against Seattle, was that "garbage time?"

So Washington game:

1st quarter they scored 7, we scored 7
2nd quarter they scored 14, we scored 6
3rd quarter they scored 7, we scored 7
4th quarter they scored 10, we scored 13

Sorry, I'm not seeing much "Garbage time" We got outscored in the 2nd quarter, tied their score in the 1st and 3rd, and outscored them in the 4th.

The trenches is where it needs to start. Need to add new trench coaches and use FA and the Draft on trenches along with adding that
Tee replacement as you say. I good pass rusher opposite of Trey and this Defense would be much harder to plan against. I agree that
Kris Jenkins and McKinnley Jackson should be fine down the road. Seen flashes of good stuff from both already.

Get some Guards to get our interior OL up to par and with a new OL coach that knows what he is doing we should get much better
there. Happy we have some good Tackles in Orlando and Amarius. Bench Volson and keep him as a depth player and I wouldn't have
a problem with him.

Also, if we had a better Kicker we would have a couple more wins than we currently do. McPherson is really hurting us this year.

Understandable just don’t wanna overhype the CB’s was my point think it’s been a combination of both this season. Here’s my thing with CTB you can sell me on ok maybe he’s better at safety but there’s been numerous times this season he doesn’t even know what coverage we’re in which is why he got benched vs. the Chargers. You still need to know coverages and understand the playbook when you’re a safety as well. Seems like maybe his head isn’t in the playbook.

Bengals were down multiple scores in that game 28-13, and then 31-20. More accurate of a description would be that the Bengals could not stop the Commanders from scoring, even allowing the most improbable of completions to happen.
