Burrow "confident" Bengals can re-sign Higgins
#1
Post game comments from him and Chase were super interesting. Joe had always talked about a "plan" to keep them together. Wonder if the plan has always been a Burrow restructure. Wouldn't that be something.

It'd be nice if he, Chase and Higgins all came in at the same time with a plan to keep all three. But Higgins has to get healthy and stay that way. I'm not sure he can.

There’s no one else to pay

Literally no one but Trey is worth paying one

You absolutely have the money to do it. It’s sad you have the money but you do.

Well you're paying Chase

They are also going to have to sign a bunch of QUALITY free agents this off season.

But I agree. The money is definitely there. They have no long term deals other then Burrow and OBJ right now.

It’s much less convincing actually hearing Joe say it than it is reading it tbh.

It's always been 'possible' it's more a question of 'what the hell do you do with the defence' if you do sign Tee.

Surely this season is the ultimate proof that this cannot be our primary focus moving forward? Our QB is playing at a ridiculous level. We have the leading WR.

5-8 because the defence is bad enough to nullify MVP-level QB play. Quite incredible that's even been possible.

If we're re-signing Tee, gotta hope there's enough impetus to also look at making the defence remotely NFL-level. We'd have been a serious threat this year with a remotely average defence.

I'd say Tee is tired of playing in Chase's shadow, and longs to be a WR1 somewhere else.

Not popular take but Tee is a albatross on our team he only plays 8 to 10 games a year. That money would be better spent on a DT, DE2. I think iosivias can be productive WR2 and Burton is decent number 3 option.

That would be the worst WR room in the league. Even with an All Pro Ja’Marr Chase.

thank goodness they scored on their 3rd attempt to win the game.. otherwise, their endorsement to keeping Teeggins would have been meaningless.

This is my only issue with signing Tee, can he stay healthy.  When healthy, he's work $25M per year.

I think due to his injuries, his value could potentially be dropping.  Who knows.

If they re-sign Tee, IMO they move Trey Hendrickson for draft capital and sign free agent DL.

Also, I also believe you'll see 85% new staff along with a new DC in 2025.

Agree

Hence the "injuries"

I disagree. These guys couldn't be happier for each other when one is having success over the other. They are all great teammates and friends.

This is an unpopular take, but I don't disagree.  If you want to fix your defense it's going to take $$$$ to do so.  You can't pay a WR who stays on the field 8 or 9 games a year $25-$30M a year.   That's just no feasible.  I mean last night was the Jamarr show, where was Tee?  Nonexistent.

I think you can draft a WR high in the draft this year still have a good WR corp.  It just wont be Top 5.  However where has a Top 5 WR corp gotten them this year?  A 5-8 record because of a franchise worst ever defense.

I am not disagreeing with this.

If you don't sign Tee though you need to go out and spend money on a WR2 (10 million a year) or high draft capital on one regardless.

Agree with the first part but not with the 2nd. Iosaivas is at best a #4 (thus far) and who the hell knows where Burton's career is headed? I'm hoping he can get it together but I'm in no way confident.

I just don't believe we can pay two WR #1's, especially one that takes 4 or 5 games off a year. Not with all of our other desperate needs.

Restructuring will only lower Joe's cap hit for 2025 and raise it for the rest of his contract. That wouldn't create space for a long term Tee Higgins deal.
