Khalil Herbert: The butt of Buck and Aikman's joke
#1
Herbert is capable of doing some good things, but sometimes you just have to wonder what's going through his head. On his first ever snap from scrimmage as a Bengal, he fumbled the ball. Now he's getting butt-tackled by Cody Ford, much to the mirth of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman's amusement.

I know you guys dont like Herbert but he had 2 years in chicago with top 10 efficiency off of 120+ carries. He CAN be good. I would like for Brown and Herbert to be the duo for next year. Too many other holes on this team for them to use a draft pick on RB.

But I mean, I dont blame you if you disagree with me. He hasnt looked good at all so far, albeit like 4 snaps

I didn't say that I don't like Herbert, I just wonder what is going on in his head some moments. I love his potential and think that he'll be a good bet to make the team next year. Coming from Chicago's offense to the Bengals offense in mid-season has got to be a challenge for a skill position player.

Didn't take long for him to be Bengalized.

who said advanced analytics? Im talking yards per carry. Thats not an advanced stat. Herbert had 2 years with elite efficiency in chicago.

this is a fact. No pff grades or advanced analytics involved

The issue I have w/ a backfield of Brown and Herbert is they are clones of each other. Neither is a Change of Pace. The great duos has names like Thunder and Lightning, Sonic and Knuckles, Flash and Bang, Batman and Robin. A backfield of Herbert and Brown could be nicknamed Light rain and Drizzle.

Cut him some slack for that fumble. He and Joe had never practiced hand offs at.game speed at that point in his 3 day Bengals career. It wasn’t like he was getting all the practice reps either

Hey, I'm just glad that he held onto the ball through the butt tackle..

Look at it this way, with them being physically similar, there's no tipping the play by whichever one is in the game.

He had a couple of good runs 2 weeks ago. And he's looked good on returns.

I think there was probably supposed to be a hole there opened by the O-line. Instead, Ford's butt was filling it.

I don't know much about him, but he quickly went downhill in Chicago, demotion after demotion....

He hasn't shown much in Cinci yet. If he's a development veteran, then he can go try it with the browns, this is not the RB we want or need.

Good point

We've seen very little of him so far. I'm willing to give him a chance. It's not like any of the rest are any count.

I mean, he's averaging nearly 5/ypc over around 400 carries.

He's been just fine, outside of that first play.

His returns were great on Monday and he's average over 4 YPC in limited snaps and had a good catch and run.

He would need to be re-signed for that to happen.
He hits FA after this season.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Herbert's time in CHI was kinda like Zack Moss's career.
He's solid, but the team wanted someone with more, so they brought in Swift to replace him.
And Roschon Johnson is a better 3rd down RB, which is why Herbert fell further down the totem pole.

I think Herbert is a solid, well-rounded RB who pairs well with Chase Brown.
He's not gonna really be a home run threat like Chase Brown, but he'll churn out some yards.
Bengals still probably want to draft a bigger guy who can pass protect, catch some passes, and pound the rock on short yardage.
There's definitely room for Herbert and another guy on the roster.

They have 4 more games to complete their test drive then. I'd like to see a larger sample of him rushing, receiving and pass blocking in the next couple of weeks.

He's been ok as a pass blocker prior to this year, according to PFF.
30-40 pass block reps each of 2021-2023, but only 3 this season.
Rated in the 50's to low 60's 2021-2023.
