Joe does not need help dissecting defenses. It’s one of his biggest strengths, and he was good at it before Karras even got here. His first center when he came into the league was an UDFA that they had moved from guard.

Correct, but the OL definitely needs someone who knows the playbook inside and out making the blocking calls from play to play.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Lee is the backup center. It’s his job to know. Anyway, we’ll see what happens over these last 5 games. I didn’t think they’d actually bench Volson, so maybe they’ll surprise me and we’ll get a look at Lee. They should be in full on evaluation mode at this point.

Oh, I agree, and even said so two losses ago.

Amarius Mims is a building wearing ballet shoes. I’m very impressed.

Funny, Joe himself said in an interviewwhen he gets to the line he often asks Ted what he sees... I guess he was lying.

Lee is also a rookie who is not used to seeing disguised NFL defenses. Geeze

Karras value is not helping Joe it is getting the OL set and pointing out stunts and tricks. In other words traditional Center role.

Joe has been getting absolutely killed out there lately anyway (27 hits in just the Ravens and Chargers games alone) but hey, Karras is invaluable with the protections. Rolleyes

And is that because of Karras, or because of who is on either side of him? Have it your way, Karras doesn't help Joe at all.

I think it’s time to see what Lee can do. Not like Burrow isn’t already getting hit every play

Watching the beginning of the Thursday night game and it’s stunning to watch Goff stand back there and not get touched.
Really alarming when you see a QB with great protection when you are used to watching Burrows team.

He should be very envious of some of these other QBs. He’s way better than Goff but he’s never had the kind of pass protection in front of him that Goff is getting.

Mims decided to double a guy inside and give Parsons a free run on Burrow.

Lucky Burrow didn't get injured worse than he did on that.

Mins was a complete dummy letting Parsons run free. Know who you are playing stupid

Mims has had to go through quite the gauntlet/learning curve this year much faster than most would have wanted after Brown's injury.

He's got a very bright future.

Mims has committed 3 penalties as of today, 1 false start, 1 holding and 1 illegal formation. There was also 1 for ineligible downfield but it was declined. That is very miraculous for a rookie!

He’s gone up against Parsons, Garrett, Watt, and Crosby, too. He’s certainly had his ups and downs but overall he looks promising. One thing I’ve noticed with him is even when he gets beat his size and reach still allows him to slow guys down a lot of the time.
