That makes everyone want to cut him?
Whenever I look at "cost-saving" measures a name always mentioned is Germaine Pratt.
Whenever someone is mad at a player about a game Germaine Pratt is often mentioned
All the dude does is show up and do his job. In a 6-year career, he has missed 2 games. We ask a lot of our LB only playing 2. Depending on alignment, we ask him to be a Will, Sam, or Mike.
His sidekick asked to do the same cannot stay on the field
Like the rest of the D, he's not having his best year, but he's only 28 and has had a fine career.

He makes great plays. Not as many this year…, it seems like.

As time goes by, it becomes totally apparent that we should have retained Bates. I believe he was as important to our D as Burrow is to our O.

Tackling has been an issue with Pratt this season but it's an outlier if you look at his career as a whole.

yes ignore all those missed tackles throughout the season. Hey, Geno Stone has a couple interceptions this year, why all the hate?

Yeah, I should have mentioned he's having down year this year instead of "ignoring it".
So your answer is "Because he's missing tackles this year"....See how easy and nonabrassive that was.

Praising anyone on Defense this year is a stretch. I can even make an argument pretty easily that Pratt was just in the right place on that interception yesterday not that he has amazing ball hawking skills....
Bottom line Pratt missed tackles and constantly going for the strip giving up extra yards is not been good for the Bengals this year.

I've been a Pratt fan since we drafted him. This year not so much. The missed tackling has been way too much this year. He started a trend of trying to pull the ball out instead of hitting the ball carrier and tackling. Now all he does is reach with his arms to tackle. Plus he looks a step slower this year.

Pratt misses a lot of tackles trying to strip the ball or punch it out.
Big play Pratt is a fair moniker, as he occasionally makes the turnover, or lets the ball carrier scoot by for big yardage. Kind of reminds me of Artrell Hawkins celebrating for having tons of tackles as a CB, or flapping his arms after tackling a receiver who just got a first down...

OP - I am in the same camp.
Overall, he is “ok” (good and bad games)
I don’t think he is low hanging fruit at all.
I wouldn’t mind keeping him.
We have bigger problems on D than Pratt
Ironically, the D has improved since Logan Wilson went out as proof.
I still think Wilson > Pratt but that gap has closed a lot IMHO.
Again - we have bigger fish to fry on D —-like Stone, who is AWFUL

Pratt is an extremely frustrating player. He comes up with some huge turnovers at times, but he also misses so many tackles that he should have made because he’s constantly focused on trying to strip the ball.
He also looks VERY SLOW out there at this point. I’m just not sure why they would want to pay a 2 down LBer who’s bad in coverage, and has clearly lost a step (not that he was ever speedy to begin with) almost $8 million next season when the defense needs so much retooling.

Not so much praising his play this year, but more his career and the outcry to move on from him. He's still young and NEVER misses a game.
If I were praising someone on the D this year there'd be 2 and both their last names start with H.
We do save $5 Mil in Cap if we cut him next year, but that's not a lot of loot for a starter who laces them up every weekend. We seem to be butting him in the same boat as folks such as Hubbard, Shelton, T. Brown.

Posters are not framing their takes based on his 6-year career, but instead are offering opinions based on this season's play. The defense has been overall bad since it gives up a lot of points per game. I suppose nearly every defensive player is going to receive some criticism on the forum.
People believe Pratt's missed tackles are an issue. According to this, he ranks 17th in the NFL: https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/who-has-the-most-missed-tackles-in-nfl

Not really. He’ll be going into his age 29 season. We saw Burfict’s game drop off a cliff right around that same age (actually a little before).

He should drop 10 pounds. He’s packed on weight over the years. I’ve always felt he got too big.

I’ll also add that his comments after the Pittsburgh game didn’t help his cause one bit. There were definitely people that thought naming him a captain was a bit of head scratcher, and some of the yapping he’s done this season hasn’t really proven them wrong.

This! As someone else mentioned as well he plays very slow.
I counted multiple times when Denver ran for chunk yards that a LB was not in his gap assignment and who’s gap was it almost every time…Pratt. His INT yesterday was huge but he had little to do with it. Ossai actually hit the arm of Nix causing an under throw.
He started to annoy me when he lobbied to be a 3-down back which he is not by a large margin. I believe it was Newton that came up with a big tackle of the TE releasing from the line late in the game. Pratt was to pick him up and his break to go with the TE was slow and his speed to try and catch up was even slower. Pratt even gave Newton a tap on the helmet for making the tackle because Pratt knew he was toast.
Anyone notice how great the D was on the Denver final drive before halftime? Clear passing situation the whole drive so the Bengals were in dime coverage. Pratt was on the sidelines the entire time. Davis-Gaither is frustrating against the rush but he is solid in pass coverage. Fast forward to the Denver tying drive in regulation. Again, passing situation but the Bengals weren’t in dime coverage so Pratt was in. I also noticed Bell was in over Battle who obviously had an up and down game but right then seeing those two in I knew it was a bad situation. That’s clearly on Lou which is why he can’t be retained but it’s also highlights the inability of Pratt which is why he should be cut or traded.

When opening list it shows Pratt ranks 12th in missed tackles. Maybe they updated after yesterdays stats.
Don't hate or love Pratt and think there are bigger issues if they choose to retain him, but a fine moving on as well. Don't think he makes or breaks the defense and if an upgrade can be had then it would be foolish not to entertain the opportunity. If not a clear upgrade can be had then am fine rolling with him again but would not want to give him any long term commitment at all.
To me he showed bad character after the KC playoff loss and I found it odd he was named a Captain because of that tirade. Plus him not really being a leader on the field either, just never got that but the defense has been horrid all season so it was slim pickings for Captain I reckon.
For what its worth I was a big Wilson fan but he seems to be the next Tyler Eifert.
Guess I am just on the fence with Pratt but his lack of character makes me lean against him.

also screaming at Ossai and blaming him after the afc chip game isnt very leader like
