Jermaine Burton not going to Pittsburgh
There's another rumor flying around in addition to the eviction that suggests he got arrested for beating his girlfriend.

Didn't see that in the thread, so I apologize if it was already posted.

Hopefully a pro off season will help screw his head on straight and make him an asset for the team. I wouldn't mind if he just concentrated on a route or two and specialized in those next season, like Chris Henry was on the deep ball. Give the defense something else to think about, and making them pay if they do not honor the threat.

I had high hopes for the kid, but I also had them for Charlie Jones being a threat on offense...

...sunset ..you are more than welcome to join us..but not till march and the weather stays above 35 degrees... jordan was on the bengals to collect a paycheck.thank you brother carson...you know i have not been posting on this Board very long..but it appears to me that some of the people on here..that seemingly spend their lives on here....get offended when someone new offers a divergent opinion..thats a shame... None of us know the details on Burton but it would appear that his stay with the bengals is coming to an end..it is what it is....the other hot topic seems to be this Higgins thing..Its not my money..Personally..I would not sign any player that has chronic tendonopathy to a long term contract...land until our bengals make some definitive changes in their scouting and player development..we may get close...but we will never get the brass ring..have a nice day sunset

The problem with him taking a small handful of routes and specializing in those is that this is something almost certainly dictated by the coaches, not Burton. Sure, if Walters tells Burton "hey, we want you to become a perfectionist on running stalks, posts, post-corners etc." then I am all for it. I imagine they want more versatility out of him, though, and that would necessitate him becoming more comfortable with a wider variety of routes. I'm also going to speculate that Burton's problems aren't really on the field. I don't know what's been disproven or not at this point, but if he is really falling asleep in team meetings, being called out for maturity issues and all this jazz, he isn't going to have the focus to spend all that time working on the finer details of running a specific route.

There's always a chance that he turns it around but there has been a lot of smoke around this rookie and that normally spells trouble for their future. Here's hoping he works through it but I am highly skeptical he returns any value right now.

I agree that many signs point to off field issues.

I could only imagine the dumb ass crap I would do or get into with his fame and money at that age.

Hoping for the best because it seems Joe and Ja'Marr are in his corner, and an off season as a pro might help him get his head on straight.

Similarly, he may flame out and be another story of wasted talent and opportunity.

I agree with the bolded. I think it is often very, very easy to forget that a lot of these guys are young. Early 20's superstar athlete millionaires. I can understand how these guys get themselves into trouble but it still doesn't excuse it, ya know?

Isn't it like 25° with 4 inches of snow in southern Ohio and northern Kentucky right now with more snow on the way?

Agree about the dumb ass crap.  I did plenty of stupid shit when I was young.  Still, there's a line.  The dumb crap is what you do in your free time.  I knew what I could handle and "get away with".

My opinion has always been that when your vices/bad choices start seeping into your professional/family/fincancial life, you officially have a problem.  It's no longer recreational.  It's a behavioral issue.

That and the NFL, NFLPA, and teams have been putting a lot into helping players avoid the pitfalls.  They have all sorts of resources available to help guide them and keep them out of trouble.  But at the end of the day the individual has to be the one to accept help or ask for it to start with.

I’ve seen on some social media posts that in addition to the eviction, there was something else more serious. It could be the girlfriend beating that another poster alluded to earlier. Could be something else entirely.

I think in addition to his maturity issues there might some mental heath issues going on here. I hope he gets some help because I can see his life going downhill in a hurry, regardless of football.

Yeah, it's cold out today. We got less than an inch of accumulation in Jackson Co. OH yesterday, but yes supposed to be a significant winter storm tomorrow night and Monday. I don't Golf in the Winter. In fact, I'm typically so busy between my day job, and training strength athletes and hosting events as a hobby, that I'm lucky to make it out to a course once or twice a year.

We got a foot overnight and when I shoveled today, it was up to 40 cm Or so (16 inches, approx.) and that's after we had another foot for the previous 24 hours. And more is on the way.

We're getting hit hard here in Southern Ontario.

Burton always seems to be not far from Joe on the sidelines.

Cincinnati is going to get a lot of snow tomorrow but it is fortunate to avoid the ice storm about an hour south of here.

I'm about 4 or 5 hours up the Ohio River from southern Ohio and we got 4 inches (10 cm, approx.  Tongue  ) which was why I was wondering.

Housh went to bat for this kid. If I was TJ i would be pissed and tell the kid to lose my number.

Media today is far more often wrong than right. That said, if true, they can go ahead and fire him out of a cannon.

Burrow: "I need to sit down, so you have to go."
Burton: "I'm robbing your home."

Lock him up.
